    Default McLibel

Do check out the SBS program tomorrow night Tuesday 21, at 8.30pm. It's a 'cutting edge' program dedicated to the McLibel case.

I saw it - it was fantastic but I cried when the baby chickens were on the convey belt

Yes the doco was very well done, and I know what you mean about the little chicks - I felt really upset during the time when Lyman, the Mad Cowboy was speaking and we saw those huge animals hanging upside down by one leg, while another leg was kicking out in panic. I taped it, and will watch again.

Anyway, I really admire those two young people for the way they worked for years to bring down McDollars.

Was that documentary the one available on DVD in video shops?

I hate such scenes as those. Whenever I see cattle (which is often, due to where I live), I imagine that happening to them..... it is disgusting and heart-wrenching.

I don't know if it is on dvd. This program was prepared after the recent European Court found in favour of the two young people. As to those unpleasant scenes, they barely took 2 minutes or perhaps only 1 minute out of the whole one-hour doco.

The double dvd contains the 85 min 2005 feature doc and the original 52 min version from 1997. It also says it has 4 hours of extras, with 21 special features.

I haven't got around to watching it all, yet.

Yesterday Australian potato farmers blockaded a Tasmanian McDonalds outlet in protest to the introduction of New Zealand grown produce in McDonalds chips. 90 Tractors parked in the restaurant carpark!

Spokespersons are urging Aussies to boycott McDonalds in protest, however such statements mysteriously fell absent from the news report I saw on TV.

90 tractors was an inspiring sight, if only they did stuff like that in support of animals and not just their own finances...

If only people would stop going to McDs! A new one has just opened at the shopping centre where I live, and already it gets packed out, so I really can't see Aussies doing any boycotting in protest.
