    Default Braggs Liquid Aminos

Does anyone know of a uk store/website that stock braggs liquid aminos? I've been trying to get it, but with no luck. My local healthfood store stocks marigold liquid aminos, but that's got corn in it, which i'm trying to avoid.

anyone know where i can get braggs?

You can get it/them in the chain called Fresh & Wild - do you have one of those near you? If not I could get some and send it to you although it's probably not the easiest thing to post!

Edited to add - here's the manufacturer's web site http://www.bragg.com/ - maybe you could email them to find out if they have an outlet near you

If they don't come up with anything, PM me and I'll be happy to get you some. I've got a trip to Oxford planned during July so maybe I could hand it over in person to avoid the packaging challenge

Braggs is made from soy, but is not fermented, therefore it is considered by some to be a healthy alternative to soy sauce..........

you can get other makes of liquid aminos, marigold do one which is made from soy and corn.........

Use it like soy sauce - with veg sushi, stir fries, fried rice...

It's essentially the same as soy sauce-not as different as Bragg's would like you to think. You can buy it online at www.vitaminshoppe.com

The main difference seems to be the marketing and the greater cost! Always wanted to give it a try but not tempted enough at that price in case I hated the stuff!

    Hello,

I use braggs all the time, in soups, stir fries, salad dressings and other things.

For me it is a lot different than soy sauce . Primarily because it is not fermented.

I have eczema and can't eat anything that has been fremented as these things are inflammatory. If you have an inflammation based or related dis-ease, like arthritis or eczema eating things that have been fermented causes the inflammation to increase.

If I eat something with soy sauce or vinegar on it I begin itching like crazy in a few hours.

    So braggs for me please.

If you like soy sauce, then you will like Bragg's. I do use it instead of soy but I don't use it much, either, because soy sauce (including Bragg's liquid aminos) are SO salty. Ick.

So if it tastes like soy sauce (and if you don't have any problems with fermented foods), why not just use soy sauce?

I think it tastes better than soy sauce and tamari, that's why I use it.

It’s cheap here, like 5 bucks for a huge bottle, I think the bottle is like 32 oz. or something.

I buy it because I do prefer the taste of it, it’s free of GMO’s unlike say, LaChoy soy sauce, and it costs the same as organic tamari, probably even cheaper.

It's not cheap here, it's made in USA so I'm not surprised that it's cheaper there, th eOz $ is worth something like 30 cents less than the US $

The name is somewhat..putrid. I find it hard to glamorize in eating "liquid aminos." Maybe if they change the name I'd be more willing?

Well soy has all of the essential amino acids so I suppose that's why it is advertised as such. She, Ms. Bragg (can't remember her first name), also has some salad dressing out, but I haven't tried it yet.

Yes, it is a selling point because all soy has all of the amino acids. There are pluses to it (as mentioned previously) over regular soy sauce, but if you rarely use soy sauce it probably doesn't matter. I mean, it's so high in sodium it really isn't that healthy for you anyway.

FYI: Patricia & Paul Bragg (they also have olive oil, seasonings, salad dressings and the best apple cider vinegar)

oooh I wondered what was so great about it - in the How it all Vegan cookbooks they seem to always rave about it. We got some Marigold instead because it was cheaper and a smaller bottle, from memory.

I know Braggs has some naturally occuring salt in it but it's nothing like the salt content that is in soy sauce or tamari. Maybe I'm wrong I'm going to check my bottle as soon as I get home. All I know is I use Braggs up at a regular rate . It's been years since I've used soy sauce.
