Yeah I think so. I'm not really sure since the US is so large and diverse. As far as my family and places we've lived, we have a BBQ w/ potato salad, pasta salad, watermelon, corn on the cob, baked beans. Watermelon is vegan awesomeness at those omni BBQs.
Watermelon is definitely a 4th of July treat. Unfortunately all the other 'treats' are unvegan and unhealthy. As are most holidays here in the US, sadly.
Yeah, definitely... even the side dishes have mayo or some milk derivative. So nasty. I stick with bringing my hummus and pita to holiday meals or offer to cook the veggies for myself. I've gotten used to making all my own holiday meals (its been like 10 years!), as I feel some obligation to eat something with them... even if I dont really "believe" in holidays.

- bananas
chickpeas! in many different ways. <3
also blueberries. a store near my place has big packs of locally grown blueberries for 2 bucks each. <3!!!
^ I only tried blueberries for the first time a couple of weeks ago but I'm already addicted!
