I scored 2.5 (mostly from housing because we live in my boyfriend's father's huge house, in a smaller residence we would live in once we move out, the score would be 1.7), but my boyfriend's father scored 9.2!!!!!!!!

...and he would complain to me how I was wasting energy because I cooked something once in a toaster oven instead of a microwave, because I refuse to use a microwave. (by the way, it costs about 3 cents more an hour to operate; I found that out incase he ever complained again, I was going to pay him the extra)

I scored over 200, unfortunately. I did not know how to score myslef on electricity and waste as I would be somewhere between those numbers. Driving a car really made my score higher than I'd like it to be.

    Default Environmental footprint calculator

    Hi

I've been playing around doing some comparisons between different green lifestyle choices. Some of you might enjoy the results:

    Some questions weren't fair.

I don't know how big my house is.

We only got public transport last month and it's useless for me to use it since I live close by to everything in my small town.

I don't know how many litres my car takes.

    Anyway: 3.7

Nope, only 0. And that makes it seem like you use a car instead of transport. But I walk!

The sad thing is, even if you claimed to do nothing and sat in a box all day, every day, you would still consume more than a planet as the structure of the society around you uses up those resources on your behalf. If you are to live below the 1 planet mark you can not live in the West.

It shows that changes most come from government if we are to crack this problem, and the removal of government backing for the meat and dairy industry would be, perhaps, the most important step it could take.

    Here's mine...

    CATEGORYGLOBAL HECTARES
    FOOD 0.5
    MOBILITY 0
    SHELTER 0.7
    GOODS/SERVICES 0.4
    TOTAL FOOTPRINT1.6

IN COMPARISON, THE AVERAGE ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT IN YOUR COUNTRY IS 5.3 GLOBAL HECTARES PER PERSON.

WORLDWIDE, THERE EXIST 1.8 BIOLOGICALLY PRODUCTIVE GLOBAL HECTARES PER PERSON.

IF EVERYONE LIVED LIKE YOU, WE WOULD NEED 1.0 PLANETS

    Seems ok I guess...

I did it again but as a crazy meat eater who never takes public transport and uses a gas-guzzling car. It said I would need 30 planets.

There is also this one, which estimates at what age you should die in order to not use more than your fair share of our planets resources!
Wow, I get to live forever! Trouble is, I'm not sure I want to live on a houseboat when I'm 95.

I just did the quiz again, that resulted in total footprint of 2.3. That needs 1.3 planets, but can't think why! I thought I was conservationist.

According to the other one which indicates at the age one should die - it indicated that I should have died 30 years ago! Should I put a or a for that?

I got a total footprint of 1.3HA, and just need one planet! Hooraaay.

Although, I live in a house with 5 others, and don't have a car, walk everywherre (not far to walk anywhere..), and completely guessed the size of our house.. so this may have unfairly skewed my results.
