Complete systemic cleansing. Liver/Gallbladder Flush, Kidney, Bowel/Colon and so on. I design them for clients and myself with Custom-blended herbs and Cuisine. There are a few good packaged ones I have tried in the past-- The Arise and Shine, Dr. Schulze's and Ejuva, but I get better results when I craft the herbal remedies, tinctures, teas and elixirs myself.
Well, I eat a fruitarian diet for a week or so at a time every couple months. I don't know that would technically be a detox to most people, but it works for me. Then again I'm 75-95% raw the rest of the time.
What kind of cleansing and detoxing does a raw foodist need? I eat a 99% alkaline diet, about 50/50 fruits and veggies. I rarely eat grains or nuts, and the few cooked foods I regularly eat are plain beans and potatoes. All organic except for the occasional vegan restaurant meal or dinner at a friends. I think the only real toxins in my life come from environmental pollution...
I don't ever detox, my foods are good enough for me, and I can't see any reason for it.
Hello Eve! You'd be surprised how often I work with people who have felt this way only to discover that they have sheet upon sheet of toxic mucoid plaque lining their insides! I have read of even pure vegetarians who have never eaten any processed foods, ever lived in a polluted area or had any unhealthy habits, and how even they had toxin deposits in their systems and were helped by cleansing!eve
Check this out:
Inner Body Cleansing: Liver cleanse gallbladder cleanse bowel cleanse intestinal
Ok - I've had a look at that link. It's actually quite scary to think that we could have those things growing inside us!!
How would you know if you had any of those parasites? I thought only children got worms. Looks like I was wrong lol.
Also, what exactly is that mucoid plaque? Those pictures make it look like long strands of very old poo.
What would be the safest, best option to deal with these things and could a treatment be found at your local health store?
Roxy
Roxy, "mucoid plaque" is a mixture of old, impacted fecal matter, mucus and other toxis that line our insides. It is different from regular fecal matter and when going through a cleanse you can really tell that it is not just old fecal matter.
You can find products online that are superior to most in-store ones...the ones I have found in-store tend to have gelatin and other additives that aren't vegan-friendly. Ejuva, Dr. Schulze and Arise and Shine are the best pre-packaged cleanses I know of.
Thanks That mucoid plaque is rather scary stuff.
Roxy
The only hours I have of cleansing/fasting is when I'm invited to eat a place where they have no vegan food.
i got a detox kit today, that is vegan. im scared to try it, they cant be dangerous can they? ive never done one before, only my own detox plans.
oh, nevermind. two of the pills arent vegan and the other two are.
Tina -or is it Foxy?-
What type of cleanse kit is it? What types of "detox plans" have you followed before? Are you in good general health? When was the last time you were checked out? If you are as healthy as you seem, you should be just fine, but I am curious about which cleanses you have followed and what one you are about to go on....Also, your regular diet can impact how the cleanse goes for you. Let me know!
Be Well!

Sorry, but I'd rather not look at that website since everyone indicates that it's sort of scary! I won't be spooked into doing something that I believe is unnecessary.
oh it wasnt scary, it was just surprizing that these things could be inside of u. its good to know about.
You know, Eve, that's exactly the response I usually get from non-vegans when I offer up information that explains why veganism is the healthy and compassionate way to live...eve
(This is not an attack- just food for thought)
Not an attack? Think again, because if you spook omnivores about vegan foods, it's no wonder you get negative responses. I find your comment to me quite unnecessarily offensive, considering that I've maintained a vegan lifestyle for well over 30 years, and never felt the need to detox! Sorry, I realise that detoxing people is part of your business.
I also thought that comment was innapropriate toward Eve.
We are all entitled to our own opinions, but by implying that Eve is ignorant is not fair. She is compassionate and mature and the only person entitled/qualified to judge what her body needs.
I would also never detox, because I believe that a mainly wholefoods diet is good enough - I find it unhelpful and obsessive (for me) to think about every microscopic organism within my body. This may not be the case for everyone, but please don't judge people - you don't know better then us. You just have your own beliefs.
"I find your comment to me quite unnecessarily offensive, considering that I've maintained a vegan lifestyle for well over 30 years, and never felt the need to detox! Sorry, I realise that detoxing people is part of your business"
Eve, I sincerely apologise that anything I have stated was not heard in the light that it was intended. I am simply providing information. I am not in the business of "spooking" people. By the way, no one is ever spooked about my food. It's the hard facts about health, animal suffering and environmentalism that leaves them "spooked". Facts are scary. The statistics about the damage meat eating does to the environment are scary. What people do to animals is scary. Facts about toxins in our bodies are scary. That's not something I created to "spook" people. Scary things should scare us.
Detoxing people is not just "part of" my business. It is a passion of mine, one I believe in because I have seen amazing results. I have cleansed myself of many ailments, including the big "C" and have assisted many clients as they heal themselves naturally as well. I am not here to make money. I have offered help for free to anyone who would like it. Additionally, I have the same right as anyone else to voice what I know to be true and to express my opinion.
The fact that you have been a vegan for so many years is beautiful. It is also a separate fact from the one I posted- that indeed your response is the same one I get from meat eaters in defense of their habits and as an expression of their desire to remail in the dark about facts.
I also thought that comment was innapropriate toward Eve.
I do not understand all of this defensiveness. What specifically was inappropriate about my comment? Perhaps it was not my comment, but the feelings it brought out in you and Eve and perhaps others.
I would also never detox, because I believe that a mainly wholefoods diet is good enough - This may not be the case for everyone, but please don't judge people - you don't know better then us. You just have your own beliefs.
How is it you can say that I am judging? I simply am not judging. Please tell me what statement is an example of said "judging".
I just have my own beliefs, you are right. Beliefs built upon thousands and thousands of dollars worth of education in the fields of nutrition and natural healing, beliefs from hearing from the experts personally as to the real facts about our bodies and health, beliefs I hold as result of working and teaching at one of the worlds finest nutrition-based detox/cleanse facilities in the world...
We are all entitled to our own opinions, but by implying that Eve is ignorant is not fair. She is compassionate and mature and the only person entitled/qualified to judge what her body needs.
It's great that you think Eve is "compassionate and mature". So am I! It is compassion and maturity that compel me to offer the insights that I do, from years of studying, personal and professional experience and relieving myself of numerous ailments, including some pretty MAJOR ones, through "food as medicine". I never told Eve or anyone else that she "needs" to Detox. I am not the "Cleanse Nazi". I simply know it to be true that anyone can benefit from detoxing and improving their nutrition. I am not telling anyone they must do it! Perhaps you are unclear as to what I mean when I say "cleanse" or "detox". If so, I will clarify.
It's rather like the fact that we all know it conserves water to turn off the water while brushing our teeth. It's a FACT. Stating that as a fact is different from saying "You SHOULD always turn off the water while brushing!". I do not do such things. I do my best to present information and let people's logic, common sense and compassion step in and assist them in making informed choices about what is " best for them" and the world around them.
I am curious, Banana...do you believe in going to Doctors or Healers or Specialists in their field? Or do you just "know what is best" for your body in everyway?
"I find it unhelpful and obsessive (for me) to think about every microscopic organism within my body"
So do many, Banana. Why would anyone do such a thing? And why would those crazy vegans obsess over each and every little animal, every thing they put in their bodies and so on? (Same logic, really)
Probably because everything little thing DOES matter. All we are physically is a bunching of cells, microorganisms. "The Molecules of Emotion" is one of my favorite books. It scientifically quantifies what I have always intuitively known to be true- our thoughts determine how we feel, they alter our brain chemistry and thereby our moods, actions and so on. Food has a similar impact. So do toxic deposits in the body and so on...and we all have them...
i didnt think she was attacking or implying eve needed to detox. she was just making a point that the response she got was the same from non vegans. its fine that eve doesnt feel the need to detox, thats great. i dont think concsiouscuisine was trying to offend her.
i do like to detox. its a wonderful feeling and u feel so fresh and good, even if u eat the healthiest of things. i like to detox at the change of seasons, give my body a fresh start but not everybody needs to
I like this idea of detoxing too. Without meaning to be gross, I think a detoxification enema to remove build up of mucoid plaque, would be quite refreshing.
I don't feel "spooked" by consciouscuisine's posts. Infact, I'm glad that she posted this information, which I found interesting and informative.
Roxy
I have a detox tea that i should drink again...
Also want to get certain clays that help get rid of metal and other internal toxins, especially since we moved close to the radio towers, and i can sure feel the efect -_-;; Like JL or LJ's clays for baths.
Will probably see about more items when i learn of them.
But, also love the feeling of being detoxified ^_^ So clean and refreshed, like after a cool shower and meditation. Well worth it!
i agree with Banana because i know that if i started worrying about minute things in my body i'd get totally obsessed with germs and all sorts of things and end up going completely mad.
also the idea of colonic irrigation and enemas is just awful!!! i don't really understand why anyone would want to put themselves through that, ok ConsciousCuisine i see your point that some people don't understand why anyone would bother being vegan...but the idea is just too horrible to me!
I'm not talking the acne, initial illness, etc experienced by some people when making the dietary transition to cruelty-free; I'm wondering if anyone's noticed unusual, not necessarily bad, "detox symptoms" that often come with major impact on the body's systems. For example, after my mom finished chemo, her formerly straight brown hair grew in curly and darker. Anything similarly quirky or amusing happened to anyone here who's made the change--i.e., have your elbows turned neon green? I'm just interested in hearing about these things, not turning people off to the lifestyle.
I put on weight when I went Vegan, and haven't lost - there are just too many yummy things to eat!!!!
An extraordinary amount of energy. But I have mellowed out since then.
I enjoy sunshine more now, whereas I used to keep my shades drawn constantly. (Don't ask me!)
Same thing with me Atlanta. Maybe all of the vitamin D I was getting from milk made my body want to avoid sun to avoid an overdose.
i lost lots of *excess* weight without even trying - a very good side-effect of my change to a vegan diet! i also have sudden rushes of energy and get a bit hyper - something to do with blood sugar probably although i eat lots of slow-release foods and very little refined sugar
'The word gorilla was derived from the Greek word Gorillai (a "tribe of hairy women")'
Haha quite the opposit for me! I lost lots of weight and can't seem to put it back onwuggy
Michael, it's because I got much more into cooking/baking - unfortunately this involves lots of homemade Carrott Cake!
mmm carrot cake.
i do remember sumone saying their lips became more red since becoming vegan. it might have bin artichoke but im not sure who said it
"you dont have to be tall to see the moon" - african proverb
i have tried Dr. Schulze's detox...i have another kit of his in my closet (that i will use next year). i have been doing these types of cleanses for a couple of years, its more of a mental thing for me b/c it's helped with parts of my eating disorder (i.e. reducing certain habits). plus, it has also gotten me interested in veganism again
I want to do something along the lines of detoxing. Just not anything that interferes with everyday life. I'm not sure where to start. Maybe I'll just eat pseudo-raw for a few weeks.
Hi Sabster, I've just finished reading "Raw Secrets" by Frederic Patenaude, as I'm doing a review of it for Vegan Voice. The author emphasises that the reason some people fail on raw foods is that some may go into it more or less blindly, thinking that provided the food is raw, that it's ok. But there are pitfalls. Patenaude's website is www.fredericpatenaude.com - and you may find it of interest.
Eve
For a total detox of mind body and soul, I go to Spa Samui in Thailand, 10 days of pure heaven, only manage that every other year so do the liver flush in between, all their info is on their WWW.
I do the Parasite programme as mentioned by Hulda Clark in her 'The Cure for All Diseases'. I also do her kidney cleanse twice a year. I did the liver cleanse last year but it was so gross........(won't go into details but I was in the loo all night!) that I will never do it again!

Every time you breathe in and out, you are detoxing.
Eve
Hi
Has anyone tried fasting?
The reason why I'm asking is because I'm reading "Fasting and eating for health" by
Joel Fuhrman, MD.(recommended by ridgerunner). He says in his book "the fast not merely detoxify, it also break down superfluous tissue -fat, abnormal cells, atheromatous plaque, and tumors -and releases diseased tissues and their cellular products into the circulation for elimination". (I think i'll go for this).
I do fasts, mainly water, occasionally juice fast.Marie
MzNatural for how long do you fast mainly on water? Joel Fuhrman recommends seven- to- ten days. For me it seems impossible. He also says that total fast, with water only, is both the most effective and safest way.
The reason why I want to detox is that I suffer from arthritis. I'm not interesting in doing fast because of loosing weight. It is said that fast prevents you from having to use toxic medication and also prevents the disease from getting worse.
Sorry I did not see your question. I fast for 1-3 days. My 19-month-old daughter is still nursing. The information I have read strongly recommends not fast longer than this length of time. Usually on the 4th day I drink juice, and pureed soups. I have 3-day water fast every 3 months. I do a 1 day fast usually every week. I usually fast with only water, sometimes juice/pureed soups.Marie
I have read amazing testimonials about people who have cured their illness with fasts.
~~ETA~~
I fast because I like the way I feel and the health benefits. I have more energy. It is also a way to give my organs a break from digesting food.
The old fashioned way of feeding dogs was always to include a one-day-per-week water fast.
I don't know if I could go even a day without food - I am such a Glutton!
I go on a raw fruit-only diet for 3 days with lots of herbal teas. Then for the next 3 days a fruitarian diet. I have to reduce my exercise significantly as it makes you low on energy.
Nowadays I am on a semi-permanent detox with a 70% raw diet, detox every morning with only fruit until noon and lots of detox tea (Dr. Stuart's).
I eat lots of antioxidatn reach foods - kiwis, red peppers, sweet potatoes, avocadoes, peas, cabbage, broccoli, carrots usually a minimum of 2 servings of each every week usually much more.
Thanks you all for your information. I see that it is possible to do this fasting from what you are sharing, but don't you feel terrible hungry? And how much water do you drink during the day?
The first day I had some hunger pangs but after that I had more energy.Marie
It varies with individuals. You can download this book for free Dying to Get Well it is around 250 pages. The author talks about fasting as well as eating raw foods.
I am very interested in doing a detox/cleanse...however, I am a bit underweight and don't want to lose any more. What options do I have considering I would not be able to do a fast???
You could do a whole foods cleanse. I did this 28 day cleanse. It was very good. I have his book, CD, and videotape. It is very informative.LyricSarah

You do not need to buy his products to do the food cleanse. Scott Ohlgren sends out weekly newsletters for those who sign up. It is free.
