today i had a wrap with hummus, shredded beets, shredded carrots, lettuce, alfalfa sprouts, and homemade roasted peppers. it was amazing. i think ill make another one tomorrow
New vegan here, I tried Cheesly melted on marmite and bread the other day. As it was my first time trying to melt non vegan cheese (i've heard that they don't really melt at all!) I was sooo happy when it did and it tasted amazing!!!! (which is funny as when i ate regular cheese i never used to like cheese and marmite together lol)
I also love salad and hummous widges! And I agree with jackie above, a good old salad widge is amazing
The mexican tofu spread is another of my favs!! Is it me or does it have a slightly 'fishy' taste? lol

Not had it for a while, but now you come to mention it... Some potato products have a fish taste/consistency for me but as long as the ingredients are ok for vegans, it's no prob. (It's when you get a fish taste in a dodgy restaurant meal that you really begin to think "Oh no!".)

I love toasted Cheezly and marmite sandwiches too! I only tried marmite for the first time after going vegan, so I've never eaten cow's milk cheese and marmite together.
thanks for the inspiration guys for lunch today had w/meal sandwich with smoked tofu (with sesame and almonds) with guac and shredded iceburg lettuce. Flippin' Yum! Would never have thought to put them all together before reading this thread
I keep meaning to try and recreate Heinz Sandwich Spread - used to love that stuff, not sure I remember rightly what it tastes of now but I suppose it doesn't have to be exactly the same.

I thought about that a while ago, but completely forgot. I still remember what it tastes like. Just.

I've never had sandwich spread, I clicked on your link to see exactly what it was and it appears to be a weird mixture of pickle and mayonnaise... would that be accurate?

We can do this...

No, I mean it has gherkins in it if that's what you mean. It's like a stronger flavoured mayonaisse or salad cream with little bits of tasty vegetables in. Not sure how good it would be on it's own but with some sheese it could be good.
Here's a great sandwich!
Olives
Mushrooms
Red and Green Bell Peppers
Garlic
Tomato
Cashew Cheese
I'm addicted to cashew cheese! It's so good! You mix the above ingredients together, slap it on a hoagie roll, throw in the oven to melt together and toast the bread... you got one awesome sandwich!
This sounds like an interesting spread, especially since red pepper are so packed with nutrients. How do you make it?
I make it like a big mess! lol. Messy foods are more fun to eat . That hoagie must be stuffed! But if you wanted to cut everything into a pretty little sandwich and then drizzle the cheese....well, that would be pretty, but not near as fun
And the Red Pepper! Besides being good for you is so, so, so sweet and yummy
For me it's a toss up between a grilled avocado and tomato sandwich or homemade red pepper hummus and sprout sandwich (all with my homemade bread of course). But homemade peanut butter or almond butter with a banana smushed in there sounds so good right now too. Or tempeh slices with onion and sauerkraut.
I try to stay away from processed foods as much as possible but my mom was craving a baloney sandwich...badly. I bought some tofurky baloney style 'meat' slices and some uber fresh white bread. We made vegan baloney sandwiches: 'baloney', vegenaise, mustard, romaine lettuce, and some daiya cheese. Tasted just like an 'real' baloney sandwich and my mom was soo happy!
I've been eating Cafe Deli Mexican Bean Deli Filling over the last few days, its quite good I'm thinking of keeping a jar in my bag for when I'm out and can't find anything for lunch. Its labelled Vegan - available in Asda & Morrisons.

Finally managed to get hold of some of this, it's really nice, shame it comes in such a small jar.

Hummus and avocado are sandwich spreads of choice for us. We do use vegannaise as well but I try to stay away from it because it is generally not so healthy.
Newbie here.
I'm a toast addict, so homemade bread, toasted with Vitam-R (yeast extract, better than marmite, IMO).
I make my own peanut butter, and love that on fresh bread.
Otherwise, I like salad sandwiches with mayo. But no celery as that is poisonous.
Celery is the work of the devil as far as I'm concerned. Thus the poison. It is awful, I HATE it, yuck, yuck, yuck.
Bad stuff.
Get the idea I don't like it

Yes, it is the Devil's own sticks. BUT it is really good gently cooked in a little veg stock. You might like this better. Or maybe not....
Did you know it takes three sticks of celery to get one portion of your five a day? Yes, three!! A very good reason to avoid it raw, if you arsks me.
Refried beans, daiya cheddar and sriracha sauce grilled up like a grilled cheese sandwich. I had one with a salad for supper last night, and it was awesome.
I was a big fan of grilled cheese since I was a kid, and I am glad that the daiya products allow me to indulge that craving. I would love to try a vegan-version of a grilled kimcheese sandwich (vegan kimchi, sriracha, daiya cheddar) but the smell of kimchi makes my wife vomit (not an exaggeration) so I will just have to wait until she is out of town to try it.
I also make up a Mexican-influenced quinoa and beans recipe - it is great on a wrap with whatever else you want on it - refried beans, guacamole, salsa, hot sauce, daiya, etc. Wrap it up, heat it up on a grill and enjoy. It even tastes great cold if you want to take it on a hike or something.
(recently made the commitment to a vegan diet after many years of compromise and false-starts - hopefully the people on here will keep me honest!)
