You'll see me there.

we're going to stay someplace in the city and try out all the restraunts we've been reading about whilst we're there. I'd better start saving the pennies.
Antony
Definately worth your while. I love some of the Sydney places like Mother Tcu's (sp?) and bodhis and green gourmet etc but they are all of similar asian theme whereas down here there is more variety so it really would be possible to eat out every night and not get bored by the end of the first week.abrennan
Oh yeah, if you like cake you have got to try cake at pronto brontos...

What? A World Vegan Day in the US?!?
George Bush would never allow it.
Once again, I wish I lived in Australia............

Well you're welcome here any time you can make it. Sorry about George but more of you buggers need to vote to get him out.
We've got our own little George down here, we call him John. He's turned out to be a war monger and a dirty liar and he lives in Georges pocket. (so we say)
Antony

we've been looking up all the restraunts we're going to visit whilst we spend a week in Melbourne Australia for the World Vegan day and Cruelty Free Expo, and it lools like Melbourne is Vegan Heaven. I think we'll be staying in South Bank.
I'm wondering if anyone like Mr Antichrist had any useful information that might be useful to visiting vegans
Antony

Me too...my partner is from UK, which used to allow for working in Autralia and Canada. With all the imigration laws changing I am not sure it is true anymore. I know otherwise - you Aussies are quite strict with who you let in with the income requirements and all...Dianecrna
Yeah, "W" would never allow for it...probably some sort of food dispargement lawsuit would come from it.

Good on you Anti
I'll check that out
do you have any faves that I can check out whilst I am there
I understand that you work in a vagna related shop can you tell me that what that is so I can check it out too.
hmmm... I'll just assume that one's a typoabrennan
There's not much vagna on sale at the Animal Liberation office, just books and merchandise, internet access. Oh and yummy vegan nougat and chocky.
PS vegetarian orgasm is not to be missed, and pronto brontos for the experience of vegan take away chips and burgers from an (almost) exclusively vegan place.
Thanks I'll add it to the listadam antichrist
I meant to write VEGAN related shopabrennan

It'll be fun wandering through the crowd wondering who is who in the vegan world. I'll have my Treehugger Tshirt on so I'll stand out even though I'm terribly shy

argh... wish I could make it to Melbourne for WVD. It sounds wonderful!
Will just have to celebrate in spirit down here in good ol' Adelaide.. Maybe I'll try to organise a vegan picnic or something if there's nothing else going on. would other adelaide vegans be up for that? Happycow? Veganblue? Whaddya reckon?
Yeah all three Adelaide vegans should get togetherImapeach
LOL
Hey there must be more than 3 of us in this damn city! Nevertheless, we may be a small force but we can be mighty!
Rah Rah Rah *waves pom poms and does splits*
Friend of mine pointed out that one of the Melbourne WVD sponsors, Melrose Health Supplies sells fish oil on their website. This is listed as a new product so perhaps this is why there is a link to a site that sells the liquid from dead norwejian animals on the World Vegan Day website.
bear in mind sponsors make no money from attendance so don't let this oversight influence your decision to participate in the event, just perhaps be wary of this sponsors products on the day.
Oooh, I am so very very envious of you.
Have a great time!
I'm going to have to find out if we do anything similar, maybe in Fremantle??

ME ME ME!!!!!!!!!!
I'm going to be in Melbourne on WVD,
in fact I'm going to be in Melbourne for 4 days from Thursday 27/10.
So I guess I'll see you guys there,
I'm so excited - it's my first time in Melbourne, and also the first time
I'm celebrating WVD ever, so...
See you there guys!
I'll be there. It's not far from where I live.
you'll be there is spirit but will you have your rubber gloves onGliondrach
abrennan
Ewwww I don't think I wanna know.
I only wear linen gloves. Especially when I'm polishing all my gold and silver trophies and awards.
Sorry Imapeach! I will be in Melbourne for World Vegan Day too!Imapeach
I am travelling with a vegan and vegetarian and will be meeting at least one other vegan from Adelaide down there. We are driving down Saturday and coming back Sunday voiceless from too much singing I have been warned!
Would be great to run into other vegans down there! I can hardly wear a 'vegan' t-shirt for identification in a crowd like that!
We are going to Vegetarian Orgasm (?) for dinner on Saturday night - hmmm - might be worth booking a table in advance - could be busy!
Hope run into vegan forumers down there! Banana? Antony? Adam? Gliondrach? Newmayaml? Treehugger? Who else is going?
Alistair.

I'm an Adelaide vegan too!Imapeach
Don't blame me for avian flu :(
I just counted 20 vegans that I have met personally in Adelaide and I am sure that there are a few that I haven't seen in a while and have left out of that list - and there are others that I know about.englishvegoboi
Veganism is alive and healthy in Adelaide! Just noting how well the restaurants about the place are coping with "Is that vegan?", there are quite a few of us out there - and agitating for vegan food/services too!
Part of the reason for going to World Vegan Day in Melbourne is to meet some of the organisers so that we can get something big going here in Adelaide in 2006. There are at least two committee members going down there so Animal Liberation is probably going to be the hub of the organising.
Any Adelaide vegans are more than welcome to make suggestions or get involved - the more people the bigger and better it's going to be!
"if compassion is extreme, then call me an extremist"
Veganblue, I don't think I am going to be there - but I can tell you one thing - the vegie bar is better then the vegetarian orgasm, but the vegetarian orgasm has amazing dessert (I highly recommend the stickydate cake of course)
