I don't know if he saw me yet. I was wearing a very distinctive hot pink tracksuit. I remember that coz I wore it to WVD the next day too, and I was embarrassed coz the Veg Orgasm lady who served me was there and was looking at me, like 'don't you change clothes' LOL

Ummm are u serious? I think I saw you? Did one of you recommend the vegan pizza? Coz I overheard one of the four boys talking about how good the vegan pizza is. I was sitting at the table next to you with my boyfriend. I was wearing a pink tracksuit.
LOL - geez - there is a reason that I am known for not being observant about people!!! Lose your keys or glasses and I can tell you where they are standing in line with another vegan that I ought to know...! Crikey! Yes - the others were recommending the vegan pizza! It was us!

I have just got the rather fuzzy pics off the camera of dinner so will see if we caught you in the picture. You would have blown me away had you come up and said "Hi! It's Banana!"

I will work out how to load the pics a bit later.

I was really wanting to get some t-shirts but didn't find anything really inspiring. Animal Liberation Vic apparently had some but they escaped my attention so I picked up a World Vegan Day t-shirt instead - I love the line on the back - "Vegan - Live and let live".

I picked up a book by Peter Singer at the Animals Australia stall with membership and a Savebabe.com bag to carry the rest of my purchases which didn't amount to a great deal after that; a No Junk Mail sticker for the new house from The Wilderness Society and a bunch of vegan stickers for my bike. "If you are old enough to read this, you are too old to be drinking milk!" My housemate (omni) didn't really get it.

When I asked how many other species consume the lactations of another species throught their lifetime he responded with how many other species drive cars? Hardly on topic but he used to be vegan once so I have become used to this kind of response.

The rest of the purchases were food! Organic fuji apples were lovely!

I must have left by then coz I was in that corner seat at the back. I remember leaving not too long after you guys arrived. I have never tried the vegan pizza, but after overhearing the recommendation, I was like, ooh, maybe I will get it next time!!! I have never been one for vegan cheese. So what did you get from there??

Yes - we were near the front window and the flash on my sister's camera was on the blink. Dinner wasn't really green - honest.

Roxy, it was a crumbed faux-chicken schnitzel with salad greens and a curious potato and beetroot mash which was also very nice.

I am not usually drawn to meat replacements but I figure that it's all vegetable and it doesn't grose me out at all. The taste and texture were interesting. It was sort to soft but chewy but not in a bad way.

The best bit was the Blackforest cake after - loaded with things that are bad for me I am sure.

I wonder why it was not combined with WVD?

Oh Alistair, I'll give you until three to guess...

    1

    2

    3...

    Correct!

There is so much bitchy bullshit between vegan/AR groups in Victoria that even if they were combined, somebody would have a rebel event because there is no way they are supporting that when so-and-so is involved blah blah blah

That's so sad to hear - bloddy hell - it's as if people forget what they are all working towards.

I completely understand ostracising individuals or groups that use violence or wanton destruction to make a point but I would say all groups are peaceful and working towards the same goal - personalities are secondary - or lower in the order of importance.

It is important to look after members and cultivate good relationships but on most things people should agree to disagree and find some common ground to work on.

There are a few small factions here but there is a general affable relationship amongst all groups.

Many organisations had stalls at both events. If I HAD to choose between them It would be hard.

WVD had more room but it had outside areas

    CFF you got a showbag

    WVD was free

CFF you had to pay to enter

I think if I was forced to choose I would say WVD as you could sit out on the grass and relax.

Both events were fantastic and the people who organised them did a lot of hard work and it paid off.

    don't make me choose

Lucky you took your camera antony, bugger we forgot ours! I agree I liked both events and it was actually more of a treat being able to attend 2 even though it is a 2 hour drive for me. The only real critisism I had was that there wasn't much for the kids to do and activities for kids was advertised, but so what, we had a good time. WVD appeared much bigger to me than CF expo, but I thought the food was better at CF expo and more available.

Well it's back at work for me this week , but the best part of my break was those 2 events, will be back there again next year.

It's a pity some groups don't agree/get on. We are a small bunch and sometimes I think you need to agree to disagree but still support one another. I must admit I was impressed with the amount of work people, and most of them volunteers were doing to assist AR's. It's inspired me to do more
