Lifescape - New Veggie mag in Uk

Saw it advertised in the vegetarian, so thought I would take a look.

The launch issue has Moby interview.

They do recipes, with vegan alternatives. Plus lots of life stuff.

Not bad... will be writing to suggest an improvement on the vegan front though.

Did you read about the American astrologist who is sueing NASA for hitting that comet. They have altered it's course and therefore have messed up her readings. (not joking).

Good question, I did try & get last months copy from WHSmith in Brentwood, but when I explained it was a Veggie lifestyle mag, they all backed away holding up small crosses.

I left with a copy chainsaw monthly.

I guess any decent larger mag shop would have it, it aims to compete with magazines like Zest.

Well I emailed them and said where can I get it as it is not in the shop in the south west any place, so they sent me the first issue free.

I will try and find the next one today.

I have spoken to Lifescape who explained that they cannot afford the contract for WHSmith to distribute the magazine, but are hoping to have the money to get that contract by January.

They have supplied me with a list of retailers who have it, but there are 265 odd ! - mail me at morgan.mv@mellon.com if you want the excel spreadsheet they are all listed on.

I signed up for the free e-newsletter. I always like to see what these kinds of Magazines have to offer.

Looked quite good, packed with vegan stuff, from the latest vegan society diversity promotion bit (including Stevie P) Plamil chocolate feature, and as mentioned an interview with Fiona Oakes. Not sure if the magazine as a whole is my bag though.

Has anyone else seen this mag? I just noticed it in Smiths yesterday because it had a free chocolate bar on the front with VEGAN on it!! in big writing!!

it seems aimed at veggies and vegans, natural living, cruelty free and fair trade. one of the bestest things about it is that when it's reviewing beauty products it actually says if they are vegan, and what associations it's approved by!!!!!!!!!!! that is so great!!!!!!!!!!! the same with clothes too, on the fashion pages.

Recipes too, and it's just fab. I'm going to get a sub even though I won't (hopefully!!) be in the uk for the full year but I'll send it to my MIL for whatever I can't receive.

It was issue 7 I got but it's the first time I'd seen it. I think i'll even write in to the letters page!!

ive clicked on the free ezine to have a look. will def look out for it in smiths and ask for it if i cant spot it.

hope its not just another glossy though pandering to a growing market where they can make some fast £££ from folk wanting stuff like this.

is it full of silly womens articles anyone know? is it a womens mag? p'raps they could re think the front pages with a more 'green/alternative/veg' picture? the current one puts me off a little.

it's not just a womens glossy gossipy mag. It has articles about both veggie and non-veggie issues (e.g. the Buncefield explosion in my home town, raw food diet info, helplines for kids, celebrities and fairtrade). I found it's beauty products section quite helpful. It's got quite a lot you can actually read and get stuck into. I'm hooked. Although if it means missing out on the chocolate bars I may not subscribe, depends what the offer is.

I think the choc bars are only going with the copies on sale in WHSMITHS as they have only jsut started selling it there, I have for months now bought myne in BORDONS.
It's a fab magasine, I enjoy it lol.

Like someone said before, you don't get chocolate with subscriptions, it was only on the mags in WH Smiths I think.. To intice people in that may not be as compassionate as us bunch yet

I tried looking for this in my WH Smith - couldnt find it

and it is quite a big one too!

the August edition is out now, I find in WH Smiths they move it around with each edition, sometimes I find it in the cooking section , sometimes in the womens mag section!!
You can also get it in Boarders .
Have a look at the http://www.lifescapemag.co.uk/ it has the pic of the latest edition out so it should help you know what to look for too. Good luck.

Its great that there is another veg*n mag available in the likes of Smiths, and whilst I've heard good things about the mag and the people behind it, and appreciate time being given to the likes of Tower Hill Stables and Fiona Oakes, I was very disappointed with the article on Bristol and the person that wrote it . But I believe this has already been discussed and look forward to reading future magazines.

Wow I really have been away for a while! I interned at PETA in Virginia this Summer, finished uni and all kinds of crazy stuff. All back to normal now though, woo! I'm still at Lifescape, is everyone finding it ok? We're in Sainsbury's now too x
