Maybe you could ask them to order it specially for you? My local health food store stopped stocking Follow Your Heart cheese because no one ever bought it ( ), but I requested some and they ordered it for me. So hopefully your store can do the same with Tofutti!

Yeah it's worth asking. The two stores have always sold it in the past. Perhaps I'm the only one who eats Tofutti in Bristol

my local independent health food shop stopped selling Tofutti because of the hydrogenated fats, maybe it's the same with the ones in Bristol.

They make a non-hydrogenated one, which I think is even better, because it's a bit softer and spreads more easily. But it doesn't seem to be very available, I've only ever seen it in 1 health food store...

    From Tofutti.com:

"6. Do any Tofutti products contain dairy?

All of our products are certified Kosher Parve, which means that none of our products ever contain any dairy whatsoever. This means no milk byproducts either, such as casein, whey, or skim milk powder. In order to make certain that there is no dairy in a product, always look for a Kosher Parve symbol. That symbol certifies that the product is completely dairy/casein free."

    More here.

It's only the sugar that may or may not be vegan (in the US) I believe.

    More from their FAQ:

"9. Are all Tofutti products vegan?

No, not all of our products are totally vegan. Although all of our frozen dessert and cheese (except smoked salmon Better Than Cream Cheese) products are completely vegan, all of our frozen food entrees (except our Pizza Pizzaz) and all four of our cookies do contain egg whites. Of course, every product that uses egg whites will have it clearly listed in the ingredients. We never use whole eggs, as we are always cholesterol free."

Here's what they wrote to Cumin (quoted in another thread):

After several email exchanges with the UK distributor of Tofutti,
I am happy to say that they've convinced me it is vegan.
Unfortunately, this only clarifies the issue for europe, not the US.
    Here are the key points:

"This is to confirm that we do not use Bone Char for filtereing our
sugar in any of the cheeses that we offer."

I then asked him to confirm if this was just the soft cheeses.
"Yes I can confirm that even though they are produced in the US all
our products including the Frozen Desserts, are specially produced
for us according to European standards and none of them contain
sugar that is filtered through Bone Char. So all our products are
absolutely Vegan and you can use them without any hesitation."

ME: You said "So all our products are absolutely Vegan". As not all
your products are even labelled vegan (for obvious reasons), please
confirm that you actually meant "all of your products which are
labelled vegan are absolutely vegan. "
"All products that we distribute in Europe are marked as suitable for vegans "

ME: Please clarify the situation with regard to the conflicting
statement from Tofutti US that I sent you earlier. Unless you can
explain how they gave a different answer back in July then I'm afraid
we are no further forward as one of you has to be wrong.
"As far as the statement by Tofutti USA is concerned the contradiction arises only because they may have been talking about products on sale in the USA. I can assure you that all products distributed in Europe are produced according to European standards and are therefore all of them are suitable for Vegans. "

ME: You said " none of them contain sugar that is filtered through
Bone Char". Please confirm that this is not done by any other party
before the sugar is supplied to you. That you either buy raw
unrefined sugar, or that you buy sugar which you can guarantee was
    not bone-char filtered.
"The sugar used in our products is organic raw cane sugar which has obviously not been refined using bone char."
I will not eat anything that walks, swims, flies, runs, skips, hops or crawls.

OK, I stand corrected, Mr Tofutti expert! But I will add that since this thread is titled cream cheese, that's what I was talking about!

Here's another Tofutti recipe for cherry cheesecake. I've made it plenty of times, and even brought it to a vegan potluck where I was nearly accused of bringing a non-vegan item because it tasted so close to real cheesecake!

    MICHAEL'S PERFECTED INDISTINGUISHABLE (VEGAN) CHEESECAKE

Thanks for the recipe. I'll have my wife make this. After looking at the recipe, it calls for 1 Tablespoon Egg Replacer. What's that? Where can I find it?

The closest H&B to me is about 6,000 miles away (across the US and the across the Atlantic)

Is that the name of the product?

No, I have no kitchen allergies... I'm just not allowed in there. My wife tells me that I'm not tidy enough for her standards....

So, as Homer Simpson says, "...if you don't like your job, you don't strike, you just go in there every day and do it really half-assed. That's the American way..."

Oops! sorry, didn't look at your location gonevegan. Yes, its called Egg Replacer or Whole Egg Replacer.
I'm sure if H&B have got round to stocking it, then most health stores around the world will have it.

Yes, it's true. Read the ingredients!

Also, watch out for hydrogenated oils, as some are used in Tofutti products.

The herb one is my favourite!

Sometimes the stores accidentally freeze them (by putting them in an actual freezer or in a fridge that's too cold). Freezing makes the texture really gross. Maybe that's what happened to yours?

Iīm starting to wonder whether it was a good idea to get to this forum:Your easy access to these delicacies make me green with envy!!!. Alas, here in Spain thereīs no tofutti, no sheese, no redwood, no parmesan "cheese"... So I have to plan a couple of yearly raids to london to stock up. Gosh, why is the world so, so, unfair?

Here in the Netherlands, the only Tofutti products you can buy, if you can buy them, are Tofutti slices (cheddar and mozzarella style) and Cream cheese (not the Smoked Salmon). Nothing frozen or whatever. It is quite expensive here, as is all vegan stuff, so I seldom buy it and at least not in bulk. I probably have more things in my pantry and fridge and cookie jars that do not have vegan sugar in them. I still buy and eat them. I do not like the taste of the sugar-free alternatives, whether the sugar is replaced by artificial sweeteners or corn syrup.

I sometimes stir the cream cheese through boiled or stir-fried vegetables to make a creamy sauce. Delicious.

I'm lucky that I live in an area full of health food stores and vegan/vegetarian restaurants.
I love cream cheese, but obviously I can't eat it now. It sounds weird but my favorite way to eat it was by heating a flour tortilla up, putting cream cheese, tabasco and lemon pepper in it and rolling it up like a burrito.
My God it's good. I was unaware that Tofutti made cream cheese so I look forward to continuing my disgusting eating habits with it.

I wonder if they will ever make the flavoured varieties non-hydrogenated. Right now only the plain variety is available non-hydrogenated.
