    Default B Complex?

*hoping someone can answer this in the next ten minutes*

Does anyone know of a vegan B-Complex (not B12 only) that's available at the supermarket/health shops?

I was taking Solgar but it isn't stocked near me anymore.

I will LOVE YOU if you know of a brand available other than online, thanks!

StmpyElephant, although the brand name sounds odd, this is a B complex tablet: "Executive B Stress Formula with Herbs". It is by Blackmores and widely available. I get it from the local chemist.

It's a worry, especially as they WERE accredited last time I looked, but refused re-accreditation. Same with Hilton Lifestream - they clearly mark which are vegan in their catalog. Well I'll continue with the tablets that I still have, but will email Blackmores to ask about this.

I'm going to ring their 1800 803 760 number tomorrow as I prefer to chat and ask several questions. Will of course let you know their response.

Hi Stmpy, I spoke to a naturopath at Blackmores Advisory panel today and asked the questions. She told me that some of their products are certainly tested on animals, some have animal products such as gelatin etc, but she checked on the computer and said that the Executive B Stress Formula with Herbs, by Blackmores is definitely suitable for vegans. It contains no animal products and neither is it tested on animals. So with a sigh of relief, I'll continue taking my one a day! Actually we had quite a chat, and I also told her about this forum.

I thought the whole point was not to support companies who test any of their products on animals.

jacqui, no that's not really the point, otherwise we'd never eat anything. As far as I am concerned, I simply avoid eating the bodies of any animal, or the products of any animals, such as dairy, eggs. etc. Neither do I support any form of animal cruelty such as zoos, circuses, vivisection, etc. However, the manufacturers of the soymilk that I drink, which is made of whole Australian soybeans, non-GE, also has connections to dairy products. But at least every litre of soymilk we buy means they sell less dairy.

There was also a discussion here about Green & Black (?) that produced a dark, vegan, chocolate (they also produced non-vegan chocs). The company has been taken over by Cadburys, and whilst they are not vegan, they manage to fill the gap left by G&B, and produce a vegan-friendly dark chocolate.

I would probably avoid buying anything from companies such as Monsanto - only recently a neighbour offered me a bottle of Roundup for my plants! I explained why there's no way I'd touch anything made by Monsanto.

With respect Jacqui, we each do the best we can, and make the best decisions that we can. To return to the B complex, well after making numerous enquiries, this product is definitely vegan, and I can't do anything about their non-vegan vitamin D.

Thanks fo much for the info Eve. I'm torn- I'd prefer not to support a company that tests on animals, but at the same time I want to support vegan products. Hmmm. Anyways, thanks for checking all of that out!

Eve, I was not trying to offend, sorry if it came across that way. I am new to this and still learning everyday.
I have a CCF booklet and try to support companies that do not test, however I realise that some things I buy cannot be 100% cruelty free, that's the world we live in.
I do not understand why blackmores now use products that are tested when they never use to, and were always known for cruelty free.
I'm not being a smart ass here, but did they tell you why when you spoke to them?

Thompson's brand, high potency ultra B, is available in healthfood stores. It is a New Zealand company, vegetarian society approved and vegan.
