the best is oatmeal with whole grain oats..add some flaxseeds, flaxseed oil, blueberries and dates..yummy..no added sugars..great way to start the day..also add some rice milk at the end and almonds.
Stevia Blackforest smoothie when cherries are in season:
1 cup soymilk
1 frozen banana
1/2-1 c frozen cherries
2 Tbsp cocoa powder
1/4 tsp pure stevia extract
1 tsp vanilla ext (opt)
1/4 tsp almond (opt)
1/8 tsp xanthan gum (opt)
water to make four cups
ice cubes to further thicken
I know 4 cups seems like a lot but I can never get enough of smoothies. I figure its way better than the sugar-laden big gulps they sell at gas stations.
WHen cherries aren't in season I'll use strawberries or I'll have oatmeal:
1 cup rolled oats or other rolled cereal
3 cups water
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cinnamon
1/4 tsp KAL's brand pure stevia extract
1 tsp vanilla
splash of soymilk
sometimes ground flax or fake good-for-you-butter
Cook rolled cereal, water, and salt until thick. Add remaining ingredients to taste. Eat all three bowls full. And make tea. What can I say? I am a growing hungry 20-year-old girl? Don't judge me...
When people are coming over I'll usually make cinnamon date rolls or a cobbler or pastry of some sort.
Don't worry Di. Most of us here are non-judgemental of other people's food choices. No one is perfect so no one has the right to judge.
Your smoothies sound lovely!
4 cups of smoothie and 3 bowls of cereal dont seem like alot to me. you would be shocked at how much i can eat in one sitting lol.

too much of smoothies? No way, i am with you on that! some days i'll eat nothing but go on smoothies - they are that good!
Your's sounds lovely! I'll have to try it!
I will not eat anything that walks, runs, skips, hops or crawls. God knows that I've crawled on occasion, and I'm glad that no one ate me.
Well, lately, being away from home, I've been doing raw veggies with homemade tehina (my mom is visiting from Israel and brought me a few jars of the real stuff ) and a slice of whole-grain sprouted bread with some peanut butter. But since coming home, I've gone back to smoothies (tofu, soy milk, cocoa powder, peanut butter, sweetener, protein powder) mainly because it gives me a protein kick in the morning, which makes me much more alert during the day. I can't eat too many carbs, even good ones, in the morning, as it makes me sluggish for the rest of the day.
Tam
a big concotion of oats, wheatflakes, buckwheat flakes, dates, ground flax and maple syrup sat in almond milk - yum!
Lately I've been really liking cream of wheat cereal with a bit of agave nectar. Yum!
Peace, love, and happiness.
my pancakes, with earth balance and organic maple syrup.
French toast with bananas!:
3 cups of bananas
2/3 soy milk
1&1/2 tsp Cinnamon
3/4 tsp vanilla
Blend together, dip bread in batter, fry... Serve with Maple syrup! YUM!!!
bet your not having that one too often these days Ashlee! 3 cups of bananas jeez i could put a deposit on a house for how much that'd cost me these days, hehehe! Sounds yummy tho!
Yeah, have'nt for some time... having withdrawls!
No but if you add too much water/soy milk, it looks like something erotic...Juice

I'm not much of a cook, especially in the mornings! I often set the breadmaker the night before and have fresh bread and hot coffee for breakfast.
my tastes change.
sometimes i go through a toast & tea phase, and i'll have toast with various things on, and peppermint or fennel tea.
in winter, i like getting up early and making a big bowl of porridge with fruit in it, raisins or bananas.
in summer, i like having the alpro plain yogurt with crunchy cereal & fruit, or wheetabix type cereal with fruit & yogurt.
mmmmmmmmmm!
i only eat corn flakes with soya milk for breakfast.
or coffee with dark chocolate - bad, i know.
can't eat anything too heavy in the morning.
coffe with dark chocolate,weird
Rice porridge with mixed berries and rice milk.
this morning i had crunchy cereal with fruit compote & plain yogurt. (like i said i would)
my bf bought dairy greek yogurt for himself & i've made him up a yogurt pot of the same thing as i had, except i used the dairy yogurt of course. i like making things for people!
fruit salad, strawberry yoghurt, chocolate mousse, pancakes, muesli, branflakes with vanilla soymilk, green tea with lemon, smoothies, orange juice, crackers, waffles, leftovers. yummie.
Recently I've been having smoothies for breakfast or oatmeal. I'm trying not to eat too much bread, although toast is great in the mornings :>
rice cakes might fill your need for toast, if youre trying to not eat bread veganjohn. they would be great with peanut butter and/or jam on top. yumm.

isnt it just? mmmVeganJohn
i always tell myself im not going to have toast & coffee for breakfast, but when i am tired and cold, and have to get up for work, it feels like my only source of comfort.
i only had black coffee this morning
Spirit
for spirit, eve and anyone else who just does fruit at breakfast time. i am trying to up my raw intake and am concentrating on just having fruit for breakfast. i have made smoothies for about three days and today had a bowl of fruit salad - trouble is a couple of hours later i'm hungry again and then feel defeated, end up having toast and marmite when i really want to eat raw up to evening dinner time.
anyone else not last long on fruit based breakfasts?
Cedarblue, you are right ! I too faced the same hunger problem then I had to revert back to cereals plus fruits. I could not continue longer.
i am going to persevere and add some bulk to my smoothies/fruit salad like some dried dates or figs, dried fruits or ground nuts.
i want to persevere with the raw to dinner time if i can.
this morning i had a banana, an orange, slice of fresh pineapple, 5 dried dates, handful of almonds and hazelnuts as a smoothie at 9.15am, lets see how long it keeps me going for....
Almond and Cashew Nuts should work wonder with figs and raisins.
Coconut milk, Milk of Sesame seeds/Soyabean can be added too.
Manish
better today, i got a bit empty feeling about 11.45am but i had forgotten to take my apple with me for a snack but had to wait for lunch till 1.30 - i was really hungry by then
Adding raw nuts might help. Raw walnuts are very filling. Or a couple of tablespoons of a raw nut butter of your choice...cedarblue
Btw, what made you choose dinner as the non-raw meal? I'm interested and curious, because I've been thinking about trying to eat raw all day except for a partially cooked lunch (for instance, salad and a bowl of rice for lunch). My reasoning was that I don't want to burden my digestion with non-raw foods first thing in the morning or at night when my stomach should be resting. I don't know anything about it though, that's just my personal idea/theory.
You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you.

hi dw - i chose the evening meal purely because thats when we all sit down to dinner together. i dont always have time to cook lunchtimes and i like us to all eat the same evening meal too.
you are right about the morning being a good and receptive time for raw stuffs, especially fruit and a light meal is ideal for the last meal of the day too - it just works out better for us this way at the moment.
If I only eat fruit or fruit juices in the morning (if I eat that early), I normally eat some nuts as well (or something else protein rich): the protein in nuts and some seeds that makes them good combination with the relatively low protein levels of fruits.cedarblue
this morning i had a smoothie (or it ended up a thickie) of 1 banana, 1 nectarine, 1 slice of fresh pineapple, 2 dried figs, 5 dried dates, sprinkle of sesame seeds and a handful of mixed nuts. phew - im full
thanks for the charts korn.
theres no doubt about it, adding dried fruits or nuts to my fruit smoothie definately keeps me going longer without getting hungry.
today; 1 banana, 1/4 melon, thick slice fresh pineapple, 5 dried dates.
yesterday: slice of melon, mango, banana, blueberries, some soaked mixed nuts and seeds.
today: orange, banana, kiwi fruit, dried raisins.
I usually eat fruit (ie: watermelon, banana, grapes, etc).
I'm trying to stay away from bread. Refined carbs are not my friend.

Lately it's been Koala Crisp cereal.
Peace, love, and happiness.
Weetabix (or Doves Farm BioBiz), Farleys rusk, and soya milk.
Tomorrow I'm going to give vegan yoghurt another try, and I've got some organic blueberries to have with it, yum!
I didn't know Farley's rusks were vegan, I used to love them, I'll get some tomorrow!
Fruity Pebbles or Fruit Loops with soymilk. Or sometimes I might eat fruit and drink water or soymilk with it.
Porridge with almond buttery stuff and apple syrup in. I think that I am addicted to this infact.
I'm going through a stage of eating peanut butter on toast
we've just started making banana smoothies with soya milk..bananas..erm..that's it really
suppose i could add extra stuff to make it more nutrient dense (nutrient dense sounds really grown up..hurrr!)
For the last couple weeks I've been eating blueberry pancakes nearly every morning. Truly the breakfast of champions.
