Default Dec 12 Sydney Protest to Stop David Jones Selling Foie Gras

From WLPA - PROTEST TO STOP DAVID JONES SELLING PATE DE FOIE GRAS!

Pate De Foie Gras is produced by force feeding ducks and geese up to 5kgs of corn mush every day for 2 to 3 weeks.

Force feeding causes the livers of these birds to swell up to 10 times their normal size inducing liver disease. This forces their abdomen to stretch making any movement difficult and very painful.

The ducks and geese used to make Foie Gras are confined to tiny cages in dark filthy sheds for the entire of their tragically short and miserable lives.

Force feeding is performed using a metal pipe about 16 inches long which is shoved down their throats and attached to a pressurized pump. These tortured animals often die during this procedure from neck punctures, ruptured organs, and stress.

Although Pate De Foie Gras is not produced in Australia it is still being imported and sold in some shops including David Jones. Please come to this important action on Monday to help end Australia's support of this cruel niche industry.

    WHEN? Monday 12 December @ 11am

WHERE? We will be meeting at the Animal Liberation office (Suite 904/32 York St Sydney) and marching to David Jones.

For those who don't live in Sydney you can send letters asking David Jones to stop supporting the cruel production of Foie Gras by removing this product from their shelves permanently. Letters should be addressed to: Mark McInnes, CEO, David Jones Limited and Patrick Robinson, Group General Manager – Home & Food, 86-108 Castlereagh Street, Sydney NSW 2000, Fax (02) 9261 5717.
