On the container, it says: "Fresh wheat grass must be juiced or chewed to extract the juice."

I figured I wouldn't be able to handle the juice, so I'm just chewing tiny bits.
How's the wheatgrass eating going? It takes several big handfulls to get even 1/2 an ounce, so you might be up to 1/2 a teaspoon by now, right?

I used to work at Optimum Health Institute where I drank 10+ ounces of wheatgrass a day *gag* and now, I have to say I only use it when cleansing!

Anyway, back on topic (how the hell did WHEATGRASS end up in a DELICIOUS thread anyway )...

I planned on making something else but instead I just made homemade peppered seitan and broccoli, whole wheat pasta spirals and white beans with basil marinara. It will be served with rosemary focaccia and a salad of spinach, romaine, yellow, orange and red pear tomatoes, lemon garlic dressing with Udo's Blend Oil and sliced avocado.

I tried a date smoothie once using dates and bananas, but I didn't like it. I like to eat them with nuts but we have none in the house.

Speaking of dates, can someone explain how to stuff a date with nut butter? Do you just cut the date in half and remove the pit before stuffing it with the butter? How do you get the butter into that tiny hole? Someone enlighten me

LOL Oldsilverhead, you read my mind . So you have to split the date open before you put the nut butter on it?

You could if you want to be fancy. But if you don't care about appearance and mess, you can simply slather the nut butter on the date and eat it.

Okay, I'll try it in the next couple days. I think I'll use macadamia nut butter, because the island of Hawai'i is pretty famous for the macadamia nut factory .

last night i made a fantastic veggie burger - ok not the healthiest meal but it was gorgeous:

veggie burger - not meat-style, one of those ones with potato and bits of carrot and pea all squished in
    two slices of vegan 'bacon'
    homemade vegan garlic mayonnaise
    sliced cherry tomatoes
all in a sesame seed bun.

    mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I made the best thing tonight! I'm still marvelling over how good it tasted and am happy I have leftovers. Here is how you make it. One warning: I'm terrible about measuring things, so consider most of these amounts approximate.

    You will need

1 can (10 oz) Jyoti brand Classic Masala Sauce
    1/2 yellow onion coarsely chopped
    2 large plum tomatoes, chopped
about a 1/2 teaspoon of minced garlic
    about 1/2 teaspoon chopped basil
maybe 1/2 or 3/4 cup of tempeh, chopped into pieces a little bigger than a postage stamp
1/3 cup or so green pepper coarsely chopped
2 medium-sized leaves of bok choy. chop and separate the leafy part and the stems, you will use both
    2 capfuls of lime juice

Use a deep frying pan or shallow sauce pan. Add some oil to the bottom and heat (medium heat or so). Add onion and saute for a few minutes. Add tomatoes, garlic, and basil; saute until tomatoes get very mushy. Add tempeh, saute a minute or two. Add green pepper and saute for a minute or two. Add bok choy stems, saute for a minute or two. Add bok choy leaves and lime juice. Saute until leaves get pretty tender. Add the masala sauce, reduce heat to low, and cover. Simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve over brown rice or whatever you like.

I can't tell you how delicious this was! It was tangy, spicy, and hearty. It sounds like a lot of work, too, but it really wasn't. The chopping and sauteing took about 10-15 minutes before the simmering.

    Cheers,

truffle mousse!! it's fabulous! Well, I didn't actually eat it yet, was just nibbling at it (and drooling over it!), I made it for tonight for when my mother and brother are coming over for dinner. I will also make a nice quinoa-olive salad, and some sort of African dish with sweet potato, some other veg, lentils, coconut milk and really nice spices. I tried this recipe the other day, and it is really delicious. I am curious what my (non-vegan) relatives will say. hmm....

Strawberries. I try to stick to organic produce, but it's next to impossible to findy organic berries where I live and I really love berries. When I saw these at the store I had to have them - huge and plump and very, very, red. I like my strawberries one step away from overripe and these were perfect. I sliced them up, washed them, added a bit of agave nectar. Yummy.

There really is nothing to baking some oatmeal cookies, for example mix porridge oats, sugar, margarine and peanut butter, put in oven for 10 minutes and they are ready.

Spread your wings a little, home baking is not only fun but very, very easy.

LOL! I was just talking to friends about this yesterday. I am a big baker, I bake almost every day. to me, baking is the easiest thing in the world! I just follow the recipe, and sometimes I change it after that to make it more like I want.

I don't know how two people can make the same recipe and have it not come out the same, but it seems to happen with baking. Maybe your oven is off tigerlily. Being burned on the outside and raw inside means the oven was too hot. The only exception is, with cookies and sometimes other baked goods, they Look raw when they come out, but firm and crisp up when they cool. In that situation, I would say maybe they were in too long, since the outside burned, but would have firmed up after sitting for an hour.

    I am not convinced.

I still believe that hidden inside you is a baker who can have lots of fun and enjoy lots of yummy oatmeal cookies just by not giving up so easily and having your oven on nice and low and checking on what's baking every 5 minutes to prevent burning if only you would let her out
