The Horrible Horrible Heat!

Is anyone else starting to go crazy? I do NOT remember it being this hot before, but I have a short memory span. I thought my dogs were going to cark it today, until we wet them and they seemed to perk up.

For everyone in Melbourne, brace yourself for tomorrows 43 degrees!!

I've had enough of consecutive 40 degree days without any relief.

I missed that Geoff. I did see the many casualties from the Australian Open due to heat. I can't believe they have to play in those conditions!

Vuchya- That is so cold! I think I would take the cold over the heat at the moment. With the cold you can rug up but when the heat won't die it makes you become very antsy and on edge. We do happen to use celcius here!!

It's 9 degrees here, which is v mild for January, and sunny. The birds are singing...it's like Spring!

Heh, come to Lithuania then. The weather would be perfect for you here , with -30C at night and -28C at daytime. I have to wear SO many items of clothing. All this is a bit annoying.

I'm in Hobart, and these last few days have been the hottest we've had this summer. 36 is forcast for today, that is extreme for Hobart.
Our darling dog is about 13 years old and he really felt it yesterday. We took him for a paddle in the creek in the afternoon, and he just stood in the water up to his belly. Very cute.

Here in Adelade its 43 C today! It has been a horridly hot week. My dogs hate this heat - it is too hot at 7.00 am for a walk!
Good news is 29 C tomorrow (Monday) in Adelaide - Melbourne normallly gets our weather a day after so hopefully cooling down on Tuesday for you guys.

I just got back from a walk (left at eight am) and by 10am they said it was already 33 degrees in Melb. Needless to say the walk was unpleasant. We're due for a cool change tonight.

A smoothie party would be lovely. Watermelon smoothies. Mmm.

Well it's odd we feel the heat as we do live in one of the hottest countries in the world.

In Victoria Australia I think we are spoiled as we can have 4 seasons in a day (people joke about this and think of it as a negative) but I think it's great. It can be hot one day and cold the next. We usually get a cool change after a couple of hot days, but at the moment this isn't happening and it is humid which is more likely to be the weather in the north of the country.

I can cope if it's hot during the day but the nights are cool. At the moment the nights are still hot so hence why I am still awake at 2.09am

There was a fabulous picture in the papers today of a sandstorm that rolled in looking like Ayers Rock and all the locals freaked out but it didn't harm anyone. It was in Australia - did you hear about it?

We also get some spectacular dust storms at times, not good for your eyes watching it though!

In UK we seem to use Fahrenheit when it's hot (to emphasise the heat) and Celsius when it's cold ("minus 3 today")

I am going to move away from Adelaide before the end of the year because I can't handle another summer here and with global warming it is only going to get hotter so I am moving to Perth and then possibly back to my roots in merry old England (though i will miss Australia).

Have you ever experienced a Perth summer? If you can't take the heat, why not move to Tassie, which has beautifully mild weather without the mess of living in England.

Yes Perth summers can get hot too but from what I can gather, not as hot as Adelaide ones. Perhaps I am deluding myself, it wouldn't be the first time.

I like Tassie, perhaps I could live in Hobart but you still have to stay out of the sun because of the extreme levels of UV light over there. I have just spent a couple of weeks in Sydney and coped quite well, though I was in holiday mode and spent most of the time catching the ferry to Manly and swimming in the sea.... lol.

Living in Tasmania is certainly appealing to me as I am definitely not a fan of the heat either. I've never been to Hobart before but am keen to check it out.
