    Angry soy dream

i bought some soy dream ice cream the other day and thankfully i checked their web site to see if it was vegan- much to my dismay it's not. why do i have to be such a gluten? why did i have to buy chocolate fudge brownie when plain old chocolate would suffice? now it's just sitting in my freezer and laughing at me. evil ice cream.

That sucks. Soy Dream isn't good anyway... I like Tofutti better.

That stinks!! Its so hard to have faith in ANYTHING being vegan unless you pulled it out of the earth yourself. Bah!
Im not even a big soy dream fan myself. I LOVE so good vanilla...mmm...but their chocolate is icky!
Sorry about your disappointment Mophoto...i hate buying treats and not even being able to eat em!

Soy Delicious is the best, and all of their products are 100% vegan-friendly.

I've never made my own ice cream from scratch, but the cookbook How It All Vegan has some ice cream recipes using tofu that I want to try. And of course, you can blend in any crushed up candy, nuts, etc. to make it "novelty" ice cream.

It's that blooming non-dairy shite. Either it contains dairy (dairy) or it doesn't (dairy free). Non dairy is just a horseshit term.

How come they seem to be promoting veganism and then selling stuff that isn't vegan? Is their vegan stuff even labelled as vegan?

Whatever you do, don't try Rice Dream or whatever. It tastes like a load of chemicals. I was quite disapointed when I bought it for my birthday sundaes.

Do you guys not in the UK have Swedish Glace "ice-cream"? Much better than Tofutti in my opinion (although I like Tofutti's Rock n Roll cones!)

I make my own soy ice cream the basic recipe is:

    8oz silken tofu
    1 cup soy milk
1/3 cup liquid sweetener of choice
    2 tsp vanilla

You blend it in a blender, then process it in an ice cream maker according to their instructions (I have to double the recipe for my machine). You can add "flavors" to it, also. I put mint extract and vegan chocolate (smashed into bits) for a mint chocolate chunk. This way I know the ingredients and don't have to question if it is vegan.

I have also added coconut milk to it instead of soy milk with OK results. The taste is a bit sweeter, but it doesn't have as smooth of a texture. I would think that using soy creamer instead of soy milk would give an even creamier texture.

I have swedish glace it's delicious. I don't see the point in making a non-dairy ice-cream with dairy in, surely your intended market would be vegans and people who are alergic to dairy. Anyway if it's labled as dairy and isn't that must be false advertising or against the trade descriptions act or something. Some people could end up being really ill after eating that and it's just not acceptable.

Its true, what kind of amrket do they think they're targeting with a soy product with dairy. If youre not allergic to dairy or vegan, its alot cheaper to buy the other stuff.

Im not sure if it was the same one, but I had some pecan praline soy icecream, and it was DELICIOUS. My favorite after "So Good" plain vanilla.
