Question Swiss Chard (raw) - scratchy throat

    Hi everyone,

I've been gradually adding more raw greens to my daily menu. About 1/2 an hour ago, I chomped on two huge leaves of swiss chard (organic). The last time I had some (years ago), it was cooked. Today's chard tasted bitter, then my throat started to feel scratchy and "burned."
Honeydew melon has a similar effect. I'm thinking I may be allergic to it.

    Anyone else experience this?

    Thanks,
    Sea

Hmmm, I have had that with kale before, but I eat raw swiss chard almost everyday and haven't felt that.

It can taste a little bitter, depending on if you eat the leaf part that is closest to the stalk. (in my opinion) Try eating the very outer leaves only.

Maybe it is an allergy though to.
But for the sake of some little mouthful of flesh we deprive a soul of the sun and light, and of that proportion of life and time it had been born into the world to enjoy.
