Veggies such as salad greens, asparagus, green beans, broccoli and zucchini, are low in calories and high in volume. Each vegetable serving is about 25 calories, and typical serving sizes are 1 cup raw, a half cup cooked or 2 cups leafy vegetables.

There are no specific agents for weight loss, in greens.

I can see how they'd assist in weight loss since you can eat a whole lot (due to their low calorie count) and get full.

Digesting food is a body process and it actually does burn some calories, like all other body processes, and some foods like greens have so few calories in them that it takes more calories to digest them than they provide as energy. Greens contain a lot of fibre, vitamins and minerals as well as calories and this makes them important health foods.

greens are great for weight loss because theyre so low in calories, so high in nutrition, and they are high in bulk so they fill you up without needing alot of calories.

also, asparagus is a natural diuretic so i can see how that would help with weight loss. (temporary obviously. a great pms time food!)

Greens are pretty good in fiber too, I believe.
