Wonder how long it will take the meat packing industry to bury the story.

They won't be able to bury this one.

I, for one, welcome fewer carcasses (bird or cow) in restaurants, and I am awaiting the day that America wakes up and starts demanding better-quality food.

Well, here's hoping. Maybe scaring people is a way to get them to stop eating meat? Somehow I think the chickens should start running now.

I'm sure there isn't any inconsistency in their very thorough testing methods, but it's refreshing to see the USDA are no longer in denial...

'WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Mad cow disease in the United States hits fewer than one in 1 million adult cattle, Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns said on Friday, unveiling an analysis of the U.S. testing program aimed at reassuring trading partners. [...]'

True, Mr. Kevster. Even the admission that it is in the US is a BIG step.

I thought it was in the US a few years (about 4) back? Remember it was imported from canada, and then they banned canadian imports for a few months. Resturaunts had signs up about increased prices due to this ban on canadian beef imports.

The thing that was left out of most stories, was that that cattle was first imported into canada from the US, and then exported back to the US.

So it was us cattle all along...

I also heard Japan banned all imports of US beef due to either this or just bad practices in general.

They won't have to bury it. They need only to lie and tell people "the situation is isolated" and people will still chomp down on their bloody flesh steaks.
