that's a shame, Poison Ivy - i've had Booja Booja truffles from Animal Aid that were slightly out of date and they arrived in a similarly disappointing condition. i've had other out-of-date chocolate that was ok, so i guess there's something about the truffles that means they don't keep too well after the best before date.

I think that's probably true. I've never bought out of date chocolate for that reason.

they do indeed....and the box is teeny-tiny (as are the truffles themselves), so when they're at their non-reduced price it's rather a lot of money for not a lot of truffle *sigh* I can see I'm going to have to experiment and try making some from scratch.

I've just been eating lime chocolate from the organic seed and bean company, it's a pretty good combination, though the chocolate is slightly bitter for my taste.

That's a coincidence - I just got the lavender version of the Organic Seed and Bean one from Goodness Direct (with my order for about 100 rolls of ideologically-sound peppermints ). My only criticism of it is that I've eaten most of it already. ETA they have the lime one too but I didn't order any, sadly.

Does it taste like "chocolate limes" that I had as a child? I liked those!

Today I had some Green and Blacks mint choc and (last resort) some soya rice crackle. (Hmmm, shouldn't have had so much wine...it's hard to type!!)

I can't remember the name of the brand because I left it at work but today I had some 73% green tea and lemon dark chocolate. It was divine. I'll have to get some more.

I got the lime chocolate from Out of this World, they're not bad for getting new stock in.

They also have the lavender but i thought that was a bit girly.

    May I join?

I used to be a huuuge chocoholic in high school when I had a "chocolate drawer" and had a chocolate breakfast with a friend at least three times a week in our break.

I feel like I must get back to this for now... bought two huge bars of chocolate, cocoa powder and chocolate chips since yesterday afternoon.

I do decide fairly regularly to cut down, but it hasn't happened yet . I try to buy mostly organic and/or fair trade stuff as a form of damage limitation. Those Organica ones are good from that point of view - wish the full range were available locally.

I found a shop kind of near to where I live that sells it and I like the sound of the green tea one. I'm considering going to the shop but need to check the ingredients first.

    Still sort of unsure.

Has anyone tried the raw chocolate in vanofee from the veganstore ?? It states it tastes like caramac (which I used to love) and I'm wondering if that's true !

I bought some of that in Infinity Foods and I'd say it's not all that much like Caramac, apart from being a similar colour. Mind you it's about a million years since I had Caramac so I can't be sure.

It's quite pleasant in its own right, but anyone who hasn't had raw chocolate before may find the taste takes a while to acquire.

Not much of a choice here as I can only order vegan "milk" chocolate online.

Tonight I had half a bar of mint-filled bitter chocolate... giant after eight ^_^

The people who make the Dairy Free chocolate bars now make chocolate buttons and a dary free chocolate spread. They both carry the Vegan Society sunflower. I've tried the buttons and they are very nice and quite smooth but I didn't buy the spread because it contains sweetner with an E number.

Tesco sell the buttons - I found them last week and fell on 5 packets! Don't get much in a packet though

The spread I'm sure I got in sainsbury's, but can't remember now - tbh I didn't like it at all, which is saying something 'cause I looooooove all things chocolate

As Blue moon said Tesco and Sainsbury's sell them and according to their website Morrisons and Waitrose sell their products too.

    http://www.dairy-free.co.uk/

I think the buttons were about 45p for a packet but you're right blue moon, you don't get much for your money. They're a nice little snack though

A while ago at an event I noticed that on the Humdinger dairy-free leaflet thingy they had a white chocolate.

I asked them about it and they said they were still developing it and would have it for sale soon.

I havent seen it yet (might be wrong) I think it was about a year ago ..............should I give up hoping?

Its just amazingly hard to get hold of vegan white chocolate without mail ordering it and its so unfair.

I was sort of hoping it would be available in supermarkets like the rest of the humdinger range.

Y'know that teenytiny bag of Montezumas chocs I bought that cost me a whopping £5.80?...Well, having had about only 5 truffles, I left them in a bag in the kitchen overnight and when I woke up this morning, discovered someone had mistaken the bag for trash and threw it out!!

So my delicious, albeit extortionately priced chocs are sitting mushed up under a pile of lordy knows what in a bin somewhere!

Talking Chocolate and nut covered bananas

    Something i tried yesterday, delicious!

    1 banana
    about 1/2-3/4 cup chocolate chips
about 1/2 cup coasely chopped nuts (i used almonds and walnuts)
    soymilk to taste/consistency
    skewers
    sugar to taste

    1) Melt chocolate chips over small amount of boiling water, adding sugar and soymilk for desired richness and sweetness.

    2) Spread chopped nuts and sugar over a sheet of foil.

    3) Slice banana into thirds (or however you like) and place each piece on a skewer

    4) Dip the bananas in chocolate, and roll in nuts and sugar, coating the bananas.

5)Sprinkle remaining nuts and sugar on top, place bananas on sheet of foil, freeze, and enjoy!

Last night I had the most orgasmic chocolate experience of my life...

I went to San Churro and had churros (spanish doughnuts) dipped in the smoothest, sweetest non-dairy dark chocolate I have ever had, as well as a soy hot chocolate with cinnamon and chilli... and who said that vegans were skinny runts who nibble lettuce....
