    Default The pet debate

How many vegans out there have a pet? How many have a carnivorous pet? How many of you feed your carnivorous pet a vegan diet? What are ppl's thoughts about feeding their pets an unnatural vegan diet or natural cruelty and disgusting (because there is nothing really natural about pet food but at least its sorta meat) pet food?

My parents have a cat, but I think of her as mine as much as theirs because I am her favourite when I go home. But then they say a cat is never owned by anyone - it selects who it wants to live with! I guess she is happy with us - and she has the choice too because she is allowed out freely through her cat-door. I think indoor cats is cruel because it is a cat's natural instinct to go out. I think it is wrong to have a dog unless you have lots of land and a big house too - for the same reasons - these animals evolved to roam - like most hunters.

If I could and if I had a pet that was carnivorous, I would be in a dilemna as I do not approve of making a carnvorous animal vegan - on the other hand I do not approve of the meat industry which also supplies the pet food market - so what to do??????

Hi, I moved the posts about pet/companion animal ownership over here.

There is a discussion pro/con giving cats and dogs (etc.) vegan food here.
I will not eat anything that walks, swims, flies, runs, skips, hops or crawls.
