I have a the standard supermarket cornchips, you know the really cheap ones?
I think they only have vegetable oil in.

Oh over here with have somthing called kettle chips they have an organic range.

There are Lots of Organic corn chips out there.
The challenge is finding them sans Canola or Cotton.

For those who do not know, vegetable oil = soybean oil.

I don't know the brand name, but I believe that I've had baked blue corn chips with no oil in them at all. I prefer the ones with oil. Since they're organic, I'm not worried about soybean, cottonseed, and canola oils. I would if the chips weren't organic as those three items, when non-organic, are usually filled with GMO's.

I had heard some horrid things about cottonseed oil for years (classified as a non food crop it is subject to strong poisons for pest contol that often migrate to the oily portion of the seeds), and more recently some not so flattering remarks about Canola.

I am now trying to keep canola out of my diet.

I see, Vitamin. I'm not aware of the ills of cottonseed oil, in fact, I don't recall seeing it the items that I buy. I've seen it in non-organic, processed foods, though. I suppose companies need to dump all of that GMO laced crap somewhere.

As far as canola oil, I've read many articles promoting the healthy benefits of that oil. I assume, like soy, canola oil receives an undeserved bad rap.

Many healthy oils go rancid quickly. Flax oil smells fishy as it ages - and yet it is healthy. Omega 3 oils are notoriously unstable.

It says that canola contains trans-fats. That is only true if it is hydrogenated.

It says that the Wall Street Journal says it causes cancer - that well known science journal!

I'm pretty sure that oil seed rape grown in the UK isn't GM.

It seems to be scaremongering, but I don't know why.

Yeah, Canola grown in the U.S. and Canada, if it is not organic, or if it doesn't say non-gmo on the label, there is a high probability that it contains GMO's.

I know Europe is pretty much against genetic engineering. And in most countries there, as well as around the world, it is outlawed.

I have friends who have left Canola out of their diet while still eating plenty of Peanut, Coconut and Olive oils. They report improvements in digestion.
I really didn't want to start a Canola debate here, just trying to find a few brands of Chips without it.

Have you looked at Garden of Eatin Brand?

The brand I purchase (El Rey) is not organic, but made with soybean oil.

On the line of chips, I noticed that the El Rey chips i buy have 56% of daily calcium for 1 oz! And the only ingredients are corn, salt and soybean oil.

What's up with all the calcium? I have never seen that in other corn chips.

Alas they use Canola Oil. (It's gotta be cheap and plentiful)

Kettle Tortilla Chips Organic Little Dippers

Ingredients:

Stone Ground Organic Masa (Organic Yellow Corn, Organic Sprouted Yellow Corn), Organic Expeller Pressed High Monounsaturated Safflower and/or Sunflower Oil, Sea Salt, Trace of Lime*.

Is that why my tortilla chips have so much calcium (50% rda per oz)? I saw the 'traces of lime' thing too, and I was thinking lime as the citris fruit lime. like for flavoring...

I see...it is lime like the stuff that deposits in my shower.
