    Default Pre-run food

    Hello

    Next weekend my girlfriend's doing a 10K run, any advice on what she should eat/not eat prior to that? Night before and breakfast dishes, that type of thing?

    While I usually do the cooking, I've no idea what to give her before a run

    remembering my dads marathon running days;

    light but energy fuelling foods - carbs, pasta, bananas, tofu.
    wholemeal toast on the morning, porridge is also good with maybe ground nuts in. dried fruits eg apricots, but not so much that they produce a laxative effect, that wouldnt be good mid-run.

    nothing heavy that can 'sit' in the stomach.

    i'm sure you'll get lots more help here.

    this isnt strictly vegan stuff but it'll give you an idea

    I usually have a banana smoothie or something like that before a run. I find it gives me a bit of energy without making me feel heavy. Dont know if its "right" as such, but it works for me.

    You should tell that to Paula Radcliffe.

    No, I don't like sports. But why did he make that comment about the dried fruit? Did she eat dried fruit before running and pooped??

    Thanks for the suggestions, I was probably hoping a bit for us not to end up discussing pissing in the street

    The folks at vegan runners should be able to give you some advice.
