Exclamation HELP!!! No. Seriously - ideas needed for veggie flavour

    Heloooooooooooooooooooooo!
Ok, lets get to the point.
Animals are my friends, I don't want to eat them, and so am a vegan.
However, vegetables are my mortal enemies.
I really do not like 'em.
So, do you have any lush food ideas that make vegetables taste, well, not like grass.
I'm sorry if I've offended any carrotts or peas among you.
Oh, and potatoes, I love you!!!

    Hugs,

    Me

If you really feel like that, then I can only recommend that you get very familiar and proficient with lovely herbs and spices like oregano, coriander, turmeric, and of course cumin. AND don't forget the garlic!
Also - don't overcook the veg. Even the nicest carrot or pea can be 300% nicer if it's treated gently. Steam, don't boil !
Veggy gravy can also add extra flavour to nice roast potatoes and sprouts.

There - that's my tuppence worth.

I eat a lot of curries, salads, stews, chili, risotto, roasts, bolognese...

I find the best way to cook veggies it to integrate them into something saucy and / or spicy (not necessarily hot).

Everyone should get familiar with Cumin

We gently boil out veg and use the water to make gravy. This is a good idea if you can't get to a steamer as then you're drinking up the nutrients that have been lost from the veg.

I don't mean this to sound patronising at all but I fear it may come out as being so... buuuut...

Do what you do with kids to make them eat more veg- mash it into other things, add tons of veg to things like spaghetti bolognaise and stir in a tomato sauce, add more veg to things like mashed potato.

It sounds silly, and it probably isn't as good for you as eating whole veggies, but if you dont like them then sneak them in!

    Hi Tilly

Sam's suggestion of curries is a great one! I love veggie curries.

Vegetable soups are also a nice way to eat veggies, and you can find some lovely recipe's which are seasoned with different herbs and spices.

In the summertime, I also like to eat veggie wraps. I take a flour tortilla and wrap it up with all sorts of goodies inside, such as hummus, red pepper spread, mixed organic leaves, tomato, shredded carrots, veggie "meats" and cucumbers.

I find that, rather than eating each vegetable separately, mixing a whole bunch together tastes much better. Particularly in mashed potatoes, tossing in corn and broccoli and peppers and nuts and whatever else is available--a confluence of delicious vegetables.

    Oh no...
I just had the most blatantly nonvegan thing in my mouth a couple seconds ago...A bug was flying around and I inhaled and it went in my mouth. I didn't know if it did or not, so I spit in the trashcan and sure enough there it was, lifeless. :/ I've separated it from my spit, but it is as lifeless as can be.

Your best course of action, at least for now, is to hide those suckers. Add them to strongly-flavoured dishes (where they won't be as noticeable), add them to baked goods, add them (with strongly flavoured fruits that you like) to smoothies (I'm serious!), add them to your favourite dishes (hopefully it won't turn you off the dishes forever... haha), and add yummy sauces or dips. That'll keep you covered for the meantime. While doing that, try a new veggie or preparation of a previously-rejected veg every day. I guarantee that you will find *something* you like! Many people that are proclaimed veggie-haters end up that way because they've only tried unseasoned, overcooked veggies that taste bland.

    Good luck!

I use to think veggies were boring and dull... but when I made the decision to become a veg. they became amazing to me... I dont know why but veggies taste completely different now...
