Edinburgh and the Lake district- experiences needed!

Dear all

This year i am going for a weekend with my partner to either the lake district OR edinburgh. I would really be interested in your experiences and whether you went to any good B&B's, hotels etc. This will help me decide where to go. Have contacted some places already but because i've left it quite late the more places i know the better!

The Lake District is not too bad for vegan food. I went there for a week last month.

Anyway, my BF and I stayed at Fox Hall b and b near Kendal, run by a vegan family. Very nice place and friendly family. The only drawback for me was that it was on a road (very quiet road though!). Look here...

Places to eat include Zeffrelli's in Ambleside and The Lakeland Pedlar in Keswick. Both good for vegan food. The Pedlar does amazing choc cake! There's also Paulo Gianni's Ristaurante in Kendal, they understand what vegan means and can adapt dishes.

oh thankyou. the fox cottage/hall is my favourite one- it seems very reasonable and its great that its run by vegans- i like the evening meal option too! i'm keeping my fingers firmly crossed that they have places!

I like Edinburgh but the Lake District is *obviously* better

RW seems to have the best vegan places covered
There's also The Quince & Medlar in Cockermouth (15 mins ish west of Keswick). Beautiful scenery in Cumbria too
