Yum! I will look for it!

How does it compare to barley coffee?

That's a good question. I don't consume either. I thought of posting about it because I know that there are users on this forum who like coffee.

You should be able to buy it online from its website I think.

What is half and half? Semi-skimmed milk?
I have no idea really, I learnt to drink it without milk instead. Do you also want to sweeten it too?

(ETA Interesting user name with your allergies! )

Marrers, Half and Half is half cream (from a cow) and half milk (from a cow) , used in the US. Think of it as putting whipping cream in your coffee. Coffee mate isn’t vegan either, it’s got casein.

Wildwood http://www.wildwoodfoods.com/index.php makes an awesome creamer, but it’s got soy.
    Powdered creamer http://www.veganessentials.com/catalog/better-than-milk-soy-beverage-mix.htm
    But this also has soy.

Best thing to do is look through the list of replacements for cow’s milk here http://www.veganforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=997
Find one without soy, try them all.
I agree with fondducoeur, but try different brands before giving up. Or just buy really good coffee and you won’t need to put anything in it

Thanks for the advise. Yeah, Keylimepie is a name my dad calls me for some reason... and sticks. I will deffinately try almond milk. Is it sweet ?? I want to sweeten it but can't have sugar ( allergic to ) and no chemicals either.

In the UK there is an almond and hazelnut flavoured rice milk, which is really nice in coffee. I reckon any nutmilk should be lovely, too.

    Default coffee creamer

So ever since I have switched to complete vegan I realize that they make substitutes for everything that taste either just as good, or close to it. The only thing that I am not really jazzed about is the Silk creamer. I only like to have 1 cup of coffee in the morning, but I do enjoy it alot. But the soy creamer is just not the same. Does anyone know of another completely non-dairy creamer that is good?

Well, you could experiment with different 'milks' like rice, almond, hemp. But besides that to answer your question, no I don't know any others....
yes, i have thought about doing that also. i actually bought a flavored rice milk but i haven't opened it because i still have the soy. i guess it will just have to be a process of elimination. thanks!!

Try mixing milks a little. Like try a drop of rice and a drop of non sweetened soya milk..... I have never tried it, and i used to love a coffee with that powder coffee whitener, but thats not vegan and I quite enjoyed my last coffee with just unsweetened soya milk in it. Was OK.

Try that with different milks and see what works. Otherwise, maybe your coffee is not meant to be!!

yes, i think its just a matter of my getting used to it. i always used the "non-dairy" creamers that actually are dairy (how misleading is that??) before i went vegan. those are very creamy. but its not that bad of an adjustment. silk will do just fine.

Default Best soy coffee in Sydney?

    Hi all,
I'm heading down to Sydney next week from Brisvegas for the Happiness and it's Causes Conference and wondering if anyone wants to recommend a place in the city or Darling Harbour to get a perfect soy flat white? I've already researched all the vegan foodie options and now just need to lock in my daily caffeine buzz.
    Thanks!

    Oh um!

I'm not in the city enough to know. Look for anyone serving Toby's Estate coffee, it's quite nice. And ask what brand of soy they use maybe, if there's one you prefer you might know in advance if the coffee will be good.

I've just asked a vego mate who loves soy in his coffee too, he gets his made in Darling Park, http://www.darlingpark.com.au/Public/public_index.asp Check it out!

Enjoy your time here in Sydders!

A barista friend of mine once told me that, whereas Melbourne people like the froth in their coffees thick and creamy, Sydney people tend to have it foamier. This, she reasoned, is because Sydney people can't be assed waiting for the barista to bang the milk jug on the table to get the bubbles out - they just want their coffee NOW so they can be gone to wherever they need to get to. Melbournites, on the other hand, require art and precision for their lattes.

So, to answer your question: the best coffee in Sydney can be found in Melbourne

Haha, BIG generalisation there. I don't think anyone actually stands there telling the barista to hurry up, you get served when you get served.

WW, if you were in Manly, I'd tell you to go to Pure Organic, they make a beautiful rice milk latte!

I agree Melbournians like froth on their coffee. We also like decorative pictures on top - fussy!! Most places make great soy lattes, I've had few bad ones.

An ex of mine made creamer in his vitamix (super high-powered blender) for the times I stayed over. I think the ingredients were cashews, maple syrup, and rice milk. You just blend it until it's as smooth as possible. You do get a little gritty residue at the bottom of the cup, but it's just bits of cashews and coffee to the residue tastes pretty good.
