i've used soap nuts, they seem to work about as well as any other vegan eco-friendly washing method.

what I wonder is, you leave them in the drum for the entire cycle, but does that mean they keep giving out soap even when you are doing the rinse cycle? Doesn't that make your clothes feel weird/slimey/smell funny/etc??
it didn't seem to be a problem when i used them. it's like any other kind of washing product that you put directly in the drum i suppose. they do have a bit of a vinegary smell to them but i use fabric softener anyway so i didn't notice a strange smell on the clothes.
