It's listed on the sainsburystoyou website
I looked on www.sainsburystoyou.co.uk but could not find Swedish Soft. Does it depend on your local store (as to what is listed) or has it been removed from all websites?

Paul i didn't know Infinity have stopped selling Tofutti - do you know why?

i bought the garlic flavour one of the Tartimi soft cheese - i thought it was nasty on its own, but i'm going to try it stirred into pasta and see if it tastes any better.

they stoped because its unhealty because of the hydrogenarated fats in it.
they thought they should lead by example being a health food shop.

if you still want it there is ahealt food shop in seaford that sells it.

I was addicted to dairy cream cheese before I went vegan and really missed it to be honest I bought the Swedish Soft at my local health food shop but thought it dreadfully salty and also very 'stiff' i.e. not creamy. Does anyone buy the Tofutti Original cream cheese and is it 'creamy' in texture? I need something to stick my breadsticks into!!!

i rarely bought Tofutti anyway so i can live without it (it's certainly not worth travelling miles away to buy it).

someone very kindly posted me some Swedish Soft - but i tried it the other day and i thought it tasted like sour milk. i'm wondering if it went off on its way through the postal system.

was it on this forum that there was another thread about toffutti and how they said the sugars in their products MAY be processed through bone-char?

i guess thats another reason to not buy it & try & find the swedish soft stuff.

Thumbs up Re: cream cheese alternative

Mozarella flavoured cheezly is spreadable especially in hot weather-or you could place it near the cooker. Its got no transfats, is vegan and tastes really nice.

i think Asda in Brighton now sell Swedish Soft but i try not to shop there if i can help it. i don't know why Infinity don't sell it as they sell their ice cream. does anyone else who's tried it think it tastes of sour milk, or had mine gone off?

thanks for the offer of getting me some Tofutti Paul but i think i'd better avoid the hydrogenated fat and as lozza says their sugar isn't necessarily vegan either.

I found Swedish Soft at my local Asda!! I was amazed!! They also seem to be doing more vegan stuff actually - I've found Plamil chocolate there, and they do vegan mayo, 'cheese' sauce, and other stuff. They are definately improving, although they do a huge range of quorn stuff and hardly any chilled or frozen stuff that is vegan friendly. Although they do Swedish Glace too but only in vanilla.

I've made vegan lemon and chocolate cheese cake with Swedish Soft, they were both pretty good. I've used Toffuti to make cheese cakes but the Swedish Soft has a firmer consistency which I prefer.

Hmmmm... it was listed, but it's not there now and not in my local store any more (they have taken away the label and everything). Me thinks maybe they have stopped selling it Any one else noticed it disappear?

They only stock the cheezly block otherwise, wish it was the super melty slices... tried them for the first time the other day yum! soooooooo much nicer than the block.

Gonna try Asda for the swedish soft, as I've got one of those 'if I can't have it, I want it more' things going on

Default Cooking with vegan cream cheese

I went to stay with my Mum for a few days earlier this week and in a complete panic about what to feed me she bought up the whole of Holland and Barrett!! Anyway, she got some Toffuti garlic and herb "cream cheese". I tried it on a cracker and thought it was quite tasty, though even when I ate cream cheese I only ever bought the plain variety, and added my own flavourings. Anyway, I've brought it back home with me, and it's quite a big pot. Is there anything I can actually cook with it? Has anyone used it in any recipes?

At the risk of being branded a vegan extremist again, you may wish to be drawn to the attention of a thread in the letter writing section, which contains a responce from tofutti confirming that their products are made using sugar that may not be vegan. The definition of what vegan is and isn't is very broad, however I personally believe that they should not be selling their products labelled as being so as many people who identify as being vegan would be quite disturbed (as was I) to find this out.

I just asked Fayrefields why it seems impossible to get Swedish Soft.

    Dear Rob

    Thank you for your email.

Unfortunately due to production problems Swedish Soft has been withdrawn from the market. We are hoping to relaunch but it will take several months at least before the product is back on the supermarket shelves.

Please keep in touch with our web site www.fayrefield.com or with me direct and I will try to keep you up to date with progress.

    Apologies for the disappointing news.

    Kind regards

perhaps you should have stock piled?

I've been known to go out, find and buy up lots of old stock of things i like with long dates when there's been a recipe change.

I didn't see swedish soft at all in the midlands this time round.

I have been buying tofutti better than cream cheese. I was out so at Whole Foods I went to buy more and they only had plain (I prefer garlic/herb), but another brand had garlic/herb. It was called Soy Kaas. So I quickly scanned ingredients and bought it. I was eating it earlier and looked at the ingredients again and saw Caseinate!! I don't know how I missed it earlier....so I threw it out. Waste of money. I was mad. Just the thought of that being glue makes me feel like it's stuck to my insides.
Now I'm reading bad stuff about tofutti on here.....very disappointing

According to the news on www.vegancampaigns.org.uk , there is now a spreadable sheese (formerly scheese) in a couple of flavours. And now made with non-hydrogenated fat.

I can't remember what thread it was, but someone told me that the sugar issue doesn't apply to UK Tofutti products, which are all okay.

They sent me this in an email in July

Thank you for your recent Tofutti email. In many of our products we do use processed sugar that could have been processed with animal bone char. Because we cannot confirm on a continuous basis whether or not this is true, if you have an issue with that you should only purchase our products made with an organic sugar. Please feel free to contact us should you have any further questions.

    Sincerely yours,
