    Re: Sainsbury's

It's likely it's always had palm oil in, just previously only labelled as vegetable oil.

    Re: Sainsbury's

We got some of those burgers, mostly mashed potato in breadcrumbs with a few bits of veg by the looks of it. I didn't actually get to try one before they all got eaten.

    They looked...

    Re: Sainsburys

We have asked and looked, but there are plenty of ingredients that could go either way, and items aren't labelled as vegan.

Plus I can't be bothered as the staff are never pleased to help out, and...

    Re: Sainsburys

There are some bakery type ones in clear cellophane that aren't labelled I noticed yesterday. Annoys me that they don't have to label that stuff, as there are loads of tasty looking things that you...

    Re: Sainsburys

Had the Morrisons' ones yesterday. I thought they were really good, crisped up really nicely, but Toni thought they were too aniseedy. I thought they tasted perfect, though.

    Re: Sainsburys

They've always had that allergy advice on and still used to have a vegetarian label.

    Re: Sainsburys

ASDA do an own brand version - can't remember if they still stock the realeat one.

Used to be able to get realeat chicken style pieces in supermarkets, too, but that stopped a while back. :(

    Re: Sainsburys

    Nice.

Can you get a shot of the label?

You can actually make pretty good barbecue sauce by stirring some smoked paprika into ketchup

    Re: Sainsburys

Yeah I used to prefer the blue, too.

The Sainsbury stuff is 37.5%. Can't remember how much it was, I think it was less than Smirnoff red, but not by very much.

    Re: Sainsburys

Anyone tried the organic rye vodka? It's labelled vegan and seems pretty drinkable to me, but then I'm no expert on vodka

    Re: Sainsburys

I think it's on the currants. It seems to be the norm for all their currant containing bread products. It's pointless enough glazing currants in the first place, let alone when they are then...

    Re: Sainsburys

Most brands are 7% beans, 93% water. The only exception I have seen is the Plamil one which is 14% beans, and the So Good one that uses protein isolate instead of whole beans.

    My favourite is...

    Re: Sainsburys

    It's calcium chloride.

I'd never thought of that. But it can be used to curdle tofu, too, so I would think it would be vegan.

The shortcake taste nice and are very melt in the mouth. They smell cheesy, though

They have reformulated them, though, removing the harmful hydrogenated fats. On the downside, they now contain palm oil....

    Re: Supermarket labelling?

I suppose there is the chance of cross contamination with honey or eggs, maybe. I don't believe that the chance of cross contamination should mean that a product is not labelled vegan. Label it...

    Which? The bread? :D
I had the garlic and coriander stuff, yesterday (and the day before). I stick it in the toaster for a couple of minutes. It's very nice, but hasn't given me an orgasm yet - am I...

    Re: Sainsburys labelling?

I think it may be that if there is a chance of cross contamination they are not labelling it vegan. There are SO cereal bars that seem to be vegan, the vegetable spring rolls look vegan, too. Both...
