Default One last push to save the badgers!

One last push to save the badgers!

Please circulate this as widely as possible.

Hilary Benn, Defra Secretary of State, has made it clear that any decision on a cull of badgers will take strong account of public opinion.

We are now entering a CRITICAL period leading up to a decision on this issue.

The decision will very likely be announced before Parliament rises for summer recess on 22 July.

Please e-mail Hilary Benn today, even if you have done so before - and please get as many contacts, friends and colleagues to also e-mail Hilary Benn stating they are against any cull.

Please help to show that public opinion is against a badger cull - your e-mail could make all the difference.

    E-mail: bennh@parliament.uk

    Please also copy to: Hilary.Benn@defra.gsi.gov.uk

It is important to send to both addresses.

    Thank you!

Wales & scotland are in the UK.

Anyway, I think only Scotland has its own environmental jurisdictions. Wales, I believe, falls under English jurisdiction.

I've lived 27 years without seeing a wild badger (I'm not sure if I've seen one at all tbh) and I would love to see them. I'm not sure if it's as a result of the fox hunting ban but recently it's become quite common to see a fox running down the road and I think it's fantastic

there's a lot of debate going no right now but as things stand currently, a targeted cull is planned for wales/ no idea bout scotland. badger trust are challenging the welsh cull in the courts though so fingers crossed.

VIVA are covering this storyvery well, should keep an eye on their website. They also have the contact details for the Welsh office, please do contact them to voice your opposition to a possible badger cull in Wales.

From an email from Animal Aid:

Welsh Assembly Rural Affairs Minister, Elin Jones, has announced a cull of badgers in West Wales. She said that there will be an 'intensive action area' covering 200 square kilometres in Pembrokeshire, and the cull would later be extended across Wales.
